Do you Send AHR info with the STD?

Hello All!

 

I am just curious, and I am not sure if it has been covered under the AHR... But if I am sending out save the dates to everyone, even to the people who will not probably attend... Is it proper etiquette to include info about the AHR with the STD so they don't feel like they are inclined to come?  Then this way they know they can still celebrate with me a couple of months after i return, and then they won't feel so bad declining??

My fiance and I plan to have the STD mention the wedding place (resort and location), wedding date, the AHR date, and the website.  The website will be update with AHR info as it becomes available (venue, times...) 

 

I too wanted people to know there would be a way to celebrate with us back home in case that influenced their decision to spend the extra money to travel to Mexico.

 

I don't know if there is a protocol to how this should be done, but this makes the most sense to my fiance and myself.

I agree completely. I'm having a hard time even wanting to invite everyone to the DW, we want it small which is why we switched(we were up over 225 for @ home wedding). Darn etiquette!

I am thinking ours will say something like "At home celebration to follow, date to be determined"

because we want to send the info to guests asap so they can start saving and making travel plans.

I am not putting it on the STD but I will probably put it on the website. I am still undecided though, I may mention something about it on the formal invite.

I like this idea, and wording  I like the thought of using celebration over reception, since mine will be very casual.

I"m not mentioning our AHR. I would rather people attend the DW. The AHR will only be cocktails and cake. Some people know we will also be having an AHR, but I figure for most it won't be any easier to attend the AHR.

clgriffi7 , I agree with your response as that is what we did.  We sent the STD magnet with the wedding date as well as the AHR date so they could save both of them.  We sent one to everyone who will receive an invitation also and don't expect many to travel to Jamaica for the wedding which is fine with me.  This way though, they don't feel left out and are still being asked to save the date for our reception which is only one week after we return from Jamaica.  The magnet directed them to the website with all of the wedding as well as AHR information on it.

We sent our STDs 2 years in advance as Australia is a really long flight from the UK and guests will need time to save up. When we sent them out, we didn't yet have a date or venue for our AHR, but we put a silly poem on the STD saying that there was no obligation to come because we'd be having a party on our return. I think we'll put invitations to the AHR in with our full inviations around 6 months before the DW and then send AHR invitations to those who have declined the DW and those who would only ever have been invited to the AHR (work colleagues etc) a couple of months before the AHR.
