Transporting OOT bags to Mexico?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I was just wondering how other brides out there plan on getting all of these items to their destination? I have been collecting various items and it looks like it is going to be A LOT of stuff that I need to take with me. I recently found out that the weight restrictions for luggage for Sunwing does not allow for much leeway when it comes to additional weight per suit case. I am planning on giving each member of my family a carry-on, but I think I might need to give them A LOT of stuff. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Melissa

My mom actually saw my collection of "things to bring to Mexico" today and freaked out a bit. She is concerned that we are going to exceed the aircrafts weight allotment!

Has anyone ever been stopped at Mexican customs and told that they could not bring things into the country for their OOT bags?

Make sure you put a LARGE note inside your suitcase that says "not for resale, bridal decorations".  If you say bridal gifts, they might make you pay taxes on the items you bring in.

I'm planning on taking down two suitcases and spreading things out between guests as much as possible.

Mine either, I have tried to no avail for them to let me ship stuff and they just won't. I'm going to have a LOT of luggage.

Thank you! Good point- I was also worried about the "party/hangover" kits- if I put pills in little baggies, even tho it is excedrine and advil, won't that look a little shady? And with about 100 guests, even shadier?? lol

Yea I am wondering the same thing .... I have lots of different pills (Immodium, Gravol, Pepto, Advil, multivitamins) for almost 60 people. How do you explain that as bridal decortaions? ... "We like pills ... so we thought we would decorate our wedding tables in them"

LOL.....That cracked me up.  You shouldnt have any problems.  Other brides I have talked to said they didnt have any problems with getting stuff in.  I think if they open your bags and understand you're coming to the country for a wedding, they arent going to "sweat you" for pills.  I've also heard that some brides save all their receipts and take them down....but I didnt save a lot of my receipts, so I wont be doing that either.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
