Getting Married in DR in Nov 2011! -- Venue Suggestions

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have a recommendation for an all-inclusive resort to get married at in DR?  We need a place that has multiple choices of "venues" within the resort.

We're having a traditional Indian wedding, so we have several events, and we'd like them spread across a few different places in a resort rather than doing everything in a ballroom or the beach.  We're also expecting about 150 people, so if you can think of places with large lobbies or open grounds/areas that we can get creative with, that would be great!

We love the Dreams Resorts, but any other thoughts?  Thanks!

Check out Dreams Palm Beach and Melia Caribe, we have narrowed our choice down to one of these resorts.  They seem to have lots of options.  Melia probably has better packages for a large wedding like yours.

You can email them and ask for pricing and package options.  I did and received responses within 1-2 days.  Melanie Mena the WC at Dreams is very helpful and patient,  I have emailed her tons of questions and she has promptly responded to all of them.

Since you are having a big wedding it probably will help to have a good WC.

good luck!

Hey SChica, we're also having an Indian wedding in DR and are looking into having the same amount of guests and lots of venues!... I've been searching this forum for someone looking for the same things as us! Just heads up with Dreams - they shut your music off at approx. 11pm, which definitely doesn't work for us. Melia lets the music go til 1am or 1:30am and there are tons of venues.. Right now we're in the process of getting group rates for Melia and Paradisus..

Let me know where you ended up booking!!

Jennyallisha,

Check out mypuntacanadweddings.com they are local event planning company and i think they are great. I didnt find out about this company until 2 months before my wedding, so i would have used them for entire wedding. I used them for flowers and shuttle service for guests that fly into Santo domingo and ride the shuttle to punta cana. you should at least contact them for help. Vivana is the conta nct and she is really nice.

Hi,

We actually decided to go with Moon Palace in Mexico for a few reasons:

1) We had to have Indian food at our wedding. We did not find ANY resorts in DR that would allow this exception for a caterer/chef to come on site. They all were strict about not having an outside vendor come in for this.

2) We're getting married Thanksgiving weekend, so flights to DR were much more exp than Mexico and we didn't want our guests to pay that much...

So if Indian food isn't a huge deal for you, then you should have a lot more selection than we did. Good luck! Let me know what you find!

You need a large resort, any Palace resorts should do it as they tend to be large.  Look into big names such as Iberostar, etc.   In theory though, most resorts are large enough. And November is not a busy month so you'll have much more choice in terms of the rooms and everything.

Happy planning!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
