The Best of... The Moon Palace

Recommended Posts

Hey

I've spent today searching the forums and reading people's reviews and loving it! it's all so helpful!

but i have been thinking about this 'best of' thread, maybe giving everyone a chance to give thier top 5 moon palace recommendations, so that future brides know what to do!

things like best in house photographers, best external photographers, best flowers to use, best restaurant to eat in, best time of day/year to get married, best location for ceremony, best location for a private event etc etc!

I just started a new thread for MP Brides old and new: please check it out and contribute if you can. Here is a copy of the first post. The link is at the bottom:

This thread is to get all Moon Palace Brides - past, present, and future - to share the questions that you sent to your WC. The purpose is two-fold:

To make a comprehensive list of questions that you have asked, you need ask, you wish you would have asked...you get the idea. There are so many creative minds on this forum, I'd hate to go away thinking, "I should have asked about that," when I'm at the resort and it's obviously too late.

The other reason is so that those of us who are still in the planning stages can just put all of our applicable questions on one email to the WC, instead of having a lot of back-and-forth messenging. Maybe getting the questions list all up front will free up some time for them, and they can respond to us much quicker. (It seems that a lot of us have experienced some level of frustration with some WCs being slothful about responding.)

I am asking everyone to copy and paste their questions. I'm not sure if including the answers is a good idea, since things seem to change regularly. Additionally, many past brides have stated that when it came time to finalize the bill, the email dialogue between them and their WC saved some time and expense.

I am posting this link on threads for MP 2008-2011 brides. Thanks for contributing!

I guess its all future MP brides that are reading this?

Well, my date is 4.4.2011, but I have found a few things that seem to be helpful...not necessarily top 5 but things that seem good to know (hope I'm not hijacking the thread).

Obviously, I can't take credit for any of this...I wish I could give credit to the multitude of brides that I have gathered this info from, so sorry!

If anyone else has tips and such they've found helpful, please post!

Make sure you tell your wedding coordinator at your meeting that you have someone coming with the day pass, so that your guests donâ€t have trouble getting inside the property, essentially they put them in a list at the entrance of the resort where the security guard is protecting the gate. They ask for your name in order to enter the resort.

- If your guests request king size beds they will most likely be more spread out and further away because there are only so many king rooms per section.

• Get a list of all the confirmation numbers and emailed it out to everyone so they can keep for the records and double check that their dates are correct. (Turns out a couple of people had made some mistakes when booking and they were able to fix this in time.)
• Get a couple of sets of walkie talkies. It helps to keep track of key people in your party because the resort is huge.
• If people have blackberries, use them! A lot of us were on the AT&T network and we used our blackberry to keep track of each other.

• Give everyone an itinerary with all the events. If you donâ€t know exactly what you want to do, just set up a meeting time at the lobby bar and then decide what you want to do for dinner when you are there.

• If you can, plan your wedding during low season. All the restaurants are willing to accommodate larger groups then.
• Forget the bubble machine. It is too windy.

• Bring lots of change for tips
•Use a picture sharing so you can get access to everyoneâ€s pictures. phanfare - All your photos and videos. For life. is great and allows you to download hi-res pictures.
• Give the photographer direction on what type of pictures you are look to get.
• If you are told to go to the Mercado 28 for Mexican items, donâ€t bother. I found the prices to be very high there as well. (Even for mini tequila bottles).
• Make a list of the things you are giving your WC and include very clear directions on where and how you want things placed.
• If you want to add a little something more to the décor, use DECO and rent some furniture. We created a cute “clubby†feel with the furniture.

• If you decide to use starfish for place cards, buy extra. I had tons and we had them everywhere at the reception.

• Consider renting a car. We wanted to personally pick up our parents and buy some things in Cancun, so it was very convenient to have it there. (Rent online before you get there because it is a lot more expensive there.) Consider renting a car. - If interested in purchasing a live band, religious ceremony, minister, tuxedo or a private dinner function please contact your wedding planner at least 70 days prior so she can confirm these services.
Palace Resorts no longer allows packages to be shipped directly to the property.

In the terrace area, we are able to accommodate buffet and cocktail menus. In our Ballroom areas any menu can be served included plated dinners.

There is also a Taco place on the Grand side that has THE BEST food I had at the Moon. They were simple tacos, but they were really yummy!

Are we able to reserve the restaurant area for our included wedding dinner prior to our arrival?
Upon the interview with the onsite wedding planner, the couple will receive a list of all restaurants and times which are available for their wedding dinner.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
