Playacar Palace 2009 & 2010 Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I wanted to start a thread for those of us who are marrying at Playacar Palace because I cannot find any info on weddings at this resort. I know there has to be brides out there that are looking for some info/any info, so hopefully we can all help each other out!

I spoke with the resort a couple of days ago, and they said new wedding packages are "in the works" for 2010 (possible available for 2009 too)...and they are supposed to be better than what's offered currently. The only info I know about them is there will be color options to choose from.

Below is the # to contact Palace to ask any questions you might have:

1-800-635-1836 or 1-800-346-8225

Also, if you have already gotten married here, and would like to offer suggestions/comments, that would be wonderful!

Thanks girls, and hopefully there are at least a few other people out there who are getting married at Playacar Palace!!

;o)

I am getting married at Playacar Palace on May 22, 2009. Right now, I know little more than what is on the website, but as the wedding date gets closer and the resort gives me more information I will be Happy to share. I am also planning on posting a review after my wedding, so hopefully that will be helpful to anyone who is looking to get married there. There is not a whole lot of people getting married at the resort, which is one of the reasons I picked it. But it does mean that you can read up on the fourm about it, which is kind of a bummer.

Hi,

Congratulations, and I will keep my fingers crossed for you!! Have you heard anything about when their new packages for part of 2009 and 2010 are going to be posted? I heard they were going to be better, but no idea what is included...I am hoping they are not going to be a lot more expensive! Although I also heard that if you'd rather go with one of their current packages, they will still let you do that.

I am wondering when we should/can confirm our 2010 date...any ideas? I need to check in with our travel agent again on this, she is sometimes so hard to get a hold of! It's pretty annoying...are you using someone good that works with people in other states?

How many people do you think you are going to have at the wedding? Are you going to be able to take advantage of any of their group rate deals?

PEACE: I am so sorry, I never saw your post...I haven't checked this thread in so long because I didn't think anyone else replied to it or was getting married at PP! Glad to see there are others who are though! I was looking at Azul Fives, and if $$ weren't the issue for me, I'd go with them in a hearbeat! But, I chose PP since it's more affordable, still modern/contemporary, close to shopping, restuarants, bars (Playa del Carmen's 5th ave is only a 5 min walk) and we can also take the ferry over to Cozumel Palace to eat/drink for free there...heard we can walk into a town from there as well - anyone know which town and is there anything in that town? Also PP's (and all Palace resorts) have great group rates!! Not sure what they will be for 2010, but I am hoping they will be the same since this was also a big reason for us chosing this resort.

Of course we haven't confirmed our date yet...so of course I am STILL going back and forth between lots of resorts, and can't stop looking around, but I keep going back to PP...although Cozumel Palace seems really nice too and have great reviews and won many awards...ahhhh!! ;o)

Good luck everyone and let's try and keep us all posted!

Emaya 77:

I sent my reservation request in on Monday and still have not heard back from them. I have heard back from MP though. They have the date I want but not the time. We are shooting now for Jan of 2010 in hopes that we can get the time we want. Still waiting to hear back about it.

I have read on the palace website that you should book your day a year in advance if possible since 4:00pm (the most popular time) usually fills up fast. I would send them a reservation request and see what happens.

I am torn myself as to which palace resort I want. Since I am in contact with MP I am leaning more towards having the wedding their but I still am in LOVE with Playacar. I just wonder…..it there a reason why there are only a handful of us interested in getting married at PP.

I do not have a TA. I was thinking about not getting one but I think it is a must so it’s something I need to look into. How did you find yours?

Good luck with your planning and keep me posted.

Thank you Emily! I am excited for all of us. I really, really love Playacar. The only thing I am not the craziest about is that they seem to squeen in 6-8 weddings a day. The resort doesn't seem that big and the thought of running into 7 brides and their parties seems like a lot. Can anyone shed light on this?

Hello. I am getting married at Beach Palace in April. There are three of us on this site getting married there, so I thought that I would visit your site the resorts are part of the same chain. So far, I have only reserved the wedding date & time. We are expecting about 15 people, so it will be small. I am hoping that my onsite WC will make contact soon so I can start to ask her all my questions. Just wanted to say Hi.

HI. We will be getting married at PP as well. July 8, 2009 is our date. Ceremony at 6. Our wedding date falls on a Wednesday so hopefully there won't be as many other weddings going on that day because that does sound kind of chaotic. I don't think so though because we had originally set the time at 4 but then we switched it and it wasn't a problem at all. It seemed like all times were available.

We have our wedding ceremony set and the group rooms have been set aside. Our Palace WC, Katherine, has been great. Every question we have asked her has been answered. Our WP at the resort has contacted us as well but we haven't responded yet. But Katherine has been on top of it all.

The reason we choose PP is because we wanted a more intimate and smaller resort. PP only has about 209 rooms. Every other resort around is 500+. I really didn't like that.

I, myself, am kind of stressing over the whole thing and questioning if PP will be the best place for our wedding. The reason we choose PP is because one of our good friends is a Palace member and she said it is a great resort.

It is true, there is not that much info on the resort. TripAdvisor does have plenty of pics from previous travelers.

As of today, don't know the exact # of attendees. We haven't yet set what kind of reception we will be having. We really do not want an indoor reception but depending on the # of guests that will be going we'll have to decide on that.

But so far the response and the attentiveness of PP has been great.

Would really like to get as much info on PP from previous brides if there are any...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
