Gifts for parents??

I need help with what to get my parents as a gift for helping out with our wedding. They have given us alot of financial help, not to mention my mum has been the only person helping me organize/plan the wedding (every detail from dress shopping to OOT bags to reception-everything). Plus our wedding date is my parent's 30th anniversary. My fi’s parents have not helped at all-financially or otherwise (in fact they have caused us problems). We bought my fi’s parents a smoker (approx $260).

My fi agrees that we need to get my parents something really good because of all their help and for their anniversary. I have ordered them a solar bird bath/fountain for their yard and booked them a couples massage at the resort. I was thinking about giving them flights/hotel for a weekend away somewhere (I was looking at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville). Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I think you are on the money already. However I wonder how well your parents might take your gift of a trip if they have helped you so much financially already. I think your parents helped you bc they wanted to not bc they had to and I dont think you need to buy them a trip somewhere. Your mom is probably so in her element and so glad she is able to be so hands on with your wedding, that is probably thanks enough. If it was me, I would still get them the fountain and the couples massage and a really nice card and then make sure I mention how much they helped you getting ready for the wedding. That would be enough I m sure. You recognizing all their help and efforts in front of all your closest family and friends. But thats just me. Maybe mention something in your toast that you they are celebratig their 30th wedding anniversary today and that you are so happy for them and hoep that your as happy as they are in 30 yrs. Or something like that....I didnt have time to really iron that one out, but you get my drift.

If your still set on gettting them something maybe look at something a little more personal for each of them. I would x-nay the trip. But again only my opinion. Good luck and congrats!

Thanks for the advise-I think you are exactly right! We have decided to give the smoker to my Fi's parents for Christmas now so I don't feel so pressured anymore about the present for my parents. I have given them the bird bath already (can't exactly take that to Jamaica!) and they loved it. Thanks again and congrats!!

I think Jennybell nailed it, but if you want to give them something a little sentimental what about a picture collage? Maybe take a picture with your parents at the wedding to use as the main photo and then use other ones from the planning and wedding for the remaining ones.

The couples massage is good idea, since no doubt it is something they wouldnt do for themselves. Mentioning a special thank you and Congrats/toast for their anniversary also is a great idea. Being in those shoes (I am the MOG, helping out), parents don't like to see their kids spend a lot of money on them, especially when there's wedding costs right now. Showing and knowing your are being appreicated is really a big thing in it's self. If there's time, maybe even before you leave, have mother/daughter lunch and go get a pedicure, have a special day, just the two of you!
