What's something you saw at a wedding that made you swear...

We saw the seafood buffet being prepared beforehand so we were excited. The people were coming back with HEAPING plates of seafood. By the time we got to the table we were ravenous and there was hardly anything left....there were some shells - it looked like people were eating as they went through the line...ther was a grandma type lady with ZIPLOCK BAGS just scooping the crablegs right into the bag....we were just in shock! So we get the buffet with our picked over food and start to go back to our table and realize that almost all of the groom's family is gone. They ate and left. Then we sit and go to eat our food and it's AWFUL. All of the shellfish tasted like the flavor had been boiled out of it. Now the poor DJ is trying to get the 25 people that are left to dance, so we danced for a while but we were STARVING and had to drive almost 2 hours home. We found a diner on the way home so we could eat.

These stories are great!!!

I went to my brother's best friends wedding in Ottawa and it was Pot Luck, which is hard when half the guests are staying in hotels. It led to a lot of chips and beer!

The kicker was that the reception was held at the bride's uncle's farm in an open barn (just a roof, no walls) where a "toilet" was set up with a tarp around it for privacy. I almost couldn't find it because you had to walk about 20 feet away from the barn on wooden planks in the pitch black! I slipped and almost fell in the mud. Then the "stall" was barely lit by a torch on the outside and you had to hold the tarp closed while you did your thing. I was gone so long my mom came looking for me and she almost fell too!

Another I went to, I was embarrased for the bridesmaids. None of them were skinny (to say the least). These girls were busting out of their gowns to and fro, most apparently didnt see the need for undergarments to "support" These gowns looked like the knock off version of victorias secret lingerie. They were uncomfortable and I swore I would never make my bridemaids wear something they didn't feel comfortable it.

I went to a wedding where the bride got so drunk she threw up on her dress. I swore then and there I would never have an open bar at my wedding. Don't care if it makes me look tacky or cheap, I just find that kind of drunkenness cheapens a wedding even more. Of course it depends on the crowd you're inviting, but I know it my case (another family full of newfies), it wouldn't be pretty.

So now my friend and I call each other everyday will ask each other " How the *uck is you day going? Oh the best was when she heard my nephew ask someone "You got the time on ya cocky"..... Oh god I have tears in my eyes remembering her face.
PS Your wedding day is one year after mine!!!!
Only in Newfoundland do all of the "ladies" curse like sailors lol And I didn't even notice that we're a year apart, that's awesome ^_^

This thread it totally cracking me up!!!

I was at a cute backyard wedding this summer. It was very low budget, but I felt like they did a really great job with the decorations and food for the amount of money they had. Anyway, it all went downhill when the groom when under the brides dress to get the garter, he lifted her dress a little too high and revealed a massive fire spitting dragon tattoo all down her left thigh. The grooms grandmother took a glimpse at it nearly had a heart attack, I actually thought she was going to fall out of her chair.

Then the lovely couple choose a dark goth song for their first dance...classy! I kept hearing the grandmother ask "what is this.... is this music??" haha

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
