Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hi guys!!

I'm finally officially booked for Feb 9, 2010 at Tulum and I'm SO excited!!

We stayed there back in 08 and absolutely looooved the resort.

Jazmin has been great to work with.

Our plan is to have the ceremony at the Tulum beach location, the dinner at the Tequila, a dance by the pool with a dj and then we're off to the Hacienda and the disco!!

Has anyone eaten at the Tequila? What was it like?

I'm not sure what to do about speeches - at the dinner or the reception?

I also want to take paper lanterns for the reception/dance but I have no idea how many to take - any recommendations?

Any advice would be great but I have gone through this AMAZING thread and have already learned so much thanks to all of you.

Jennie

Oh I'll be there when you are, i am getting married on the 2nd of Feb. We're doing a pool side reception for about 2 hours just to do cake first dance and speeches. I found out it isn't overly expensive. $5.00 per person for 1 hour and then $3.00 after that also drinks which are cheap. I heard it costed another bride around $300 for 30+ people.

Congrats! I assume you're staying a second week? We're doing that too.

I think that's a great price. I'd love to do the whole dinner outside but I think the drinks and dancing will be fine.

Where are you having your dinner at? Are you going to get your hair & make up done at the spa?

It is relieving to know that I'm not the only Feb 2010 bride to have just confirmed a date........we are marrying at Tulum on Feb 18th, 2010!
Have you already confirmed Tequila Restaurant and the beach location? I haven't been given these options...... thought I would get options only a few months before the wedding.

We're there until the 20th so we may see you!

Jazmin has been phenomenal and is letting me chose and book everything now. She's away until Oct 1 but you should contact her when she's back.

Thanks for the tips.........We will have to keep in touch and meet up at the resort!
I will definitely email Jazmin when she is back.....there are only a couple of things that I really care about and the rest we can wait until February to book.

So, Joss, we are almost "date twins"? How close are we? What is your exact wedding day?
January 27th! I haven't really found anyone else close to this date, though i'll be on the Tulum side.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
