Review - Photographer Michael Maurus/Cancun Wedding Photography

Recommended Posts

Just saw your review and my blood is BOILING for you...I know it won't make your pictures of your big day any better, but I am TRULY, TRULY sorry to hear what happened to you! Remarkably, you've still been able to maintain a keen sense of humor when you were writing your review -- just the right amount of perfectly-placed sarcasm! Brilliantly done! wink.gif

But in all seriousness, thank you for being so upfront and honest, so that other brides may avoid this horrible situation with the grossly unprofessional putz. No matter what he says, he dropped the ball BIG TIME and needed to be officially called out for it. Hang in there...

I can't believe I JUST stumbled onto this thread for the first time. Thank you so much for posting such an honest and open review. That's what these forums are for - brides to talk to each other and share experiences. I can't tell you how important I think it is that brides post both their pleasurable and unpleasurable experiences with us. If I could edit all your pictures I would!! Thanks again for sharing, and I'm so sorry you had such a terrible experience.

Hey girl! I haven't been on this site in awhile and thought I better sign on to start my reviews and just came across your post.... I can't believe the experience you had with this photographer and I am so sorry! You are awesome for posting this so other brides are aware and can avoid this unprofessional jerk. If you wouldn't have sent me a PM on this guy during my planning stages I might have been in the same boat. I am forever grateful to you and all your help during my wedding planning. Thank you!!!

Thank you so much ladies!

I've actually been going through our pictures as I FINALLY get my crap together to put together an album... and looking at them makes me angry so I can only work on going through them for a short while before I need a break b/c I get so mad !:-)

But I am least happy to hear I've saved some future brides from the same stress:-)

DeBooCL-- you are more than welcome for any help...and I look forward to reading your wedding review:-)

wow all that is very unfortunate. i can't believe he threw down the photos and said he quit. ive never heard someone get pissed off over something like that. I understand not wanting to duplicate someone else's work and want to be original but how original can you really be these days. everything has been done. and that was just totally unprofessional.

as for the lighting he has you two lit perfectly but he should have slowed the shutter down longer to show the lighting of the sky and not make it look like its midnight. thats unfortunate.

Yep... we were all pretty shocked by that one!

Yes.. I've heard from a few pro photographers about what he did...not right:-)
Well, as my DH likes to joke, the next time I get married I'll hire someone who does amazing work (such as yourself :-))

You are seriously SUCH a sweetheart!
I've got to give you a loud thewave.gif shoutout for helping with some of my pictures already!

And if you truly don't mind, I may have a few more for you...
As I mentioned above I'm FINALLY just getting down to choosing the pics for my album...so maybe once I've narrowed it down, maybe you can help with some of those..? :-)
(BTW, I hope you had fun on your vacation! :-))

This is by far the worst story I've ever heard. Is there a Better Business Bureau for Weddings? Or in Mexico? I feel like he should be reported officially, not just on our forum!!

I was thinking of not letting other people take photos at our wedding as I didn't want them ending up on Facebook for others who weren't invited to see - now I know, it's good to have back-up!

Here's to you guys going down for your ten year anniversary and taking some great photos with a photographer you KNOW is amazing!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
