Where did you go dress shopping? Edmonton or Calgary? I might have to bring in your pictures and say, "I want to try these!!" lol. Seriously though, where are you going... I have the worst luck with Bridal salons here.

Courtney!

I have been shopping in both Calgary and Edmonton.

in Calgary I've been to S2, Cameo & Cufflinks, Beautiful Bride (based on your advice wink.gif), Sonia's & Ethos. My girlfriends have also been to the Bridal Centre and that was good as well.

I don't recommend Ethos for service - but they do have some nice gowns.

My favs in Calgary are S2 and C&C - but that is where I found these 3 gowns! I liked BB - but I didn't find any gowns I loved there!

I thought you had found a couple of dresses you loved at BB? what happened to those?

Holy crap, if there is a bridal salon, you've been to it!! I actually went shopping again on Saturday and tried on the two that I love at Beautiful Bride. I liked them, but not love them, you know? There is one girl that works there, her name is Simone - she's amazing. She doesn't pressure me into "buying right away", she's honest - and she remembers me every time I walk in the door. We went to Ethos after, which is always an upsetting experience. The lady was SO pushy, and scarey! lol. I did find another dress (blush2.gif lol) that I liked there. I'll give it some time and try it on again. I think I'm afraid to buy one and then fall in love with another one! I'm kind of hoping that once I find one, I can order it through Simone at BB since she's been so amazing - do you know if I could do that??! The dress isn't in their current inventory!

Anyways, I'll write down your list of places to visit and go to those next time. I really hate Ethos, and unfortunately, I think I've tried on everything at BB!!!

Was S2 the place you have to make an appointment?

You can always ask Simone - you never know. But I thought that generally the stores have to apply to be able to carry the stuff.

S2 and Cameo - you both have to make appointments. Sonia's you don't.

Do you know what lines/designers you are interested in? Have you been looking on line? I started by looking on line, then finding who sold dresses I liked and then going to that bridal salon. I knew I liked Trumpet style dresses or mermaid - so I always went in and asked to try on dresses that would give me that effect

S2 - carries Watters, Pronovias, Cymbeline etc

Sonias - pretty much the same plus Alfred Sung and a couple of others

Cameo - carries Alvina Valenta, Jim Hjelm, Jasmine, Paloma Blanca, and a few others.

Another store you may want to try out is the Parisian. Never been - but it is owned by the same owners as Cameo & Cufflinks. Also check out the Bridal Centre it's down in the general area of the new Ikea. tones of dresses and my girlfriends really liked it. They are also the only shop in Calgary to carry Maggie Sottero dresses.

Good luck! let me know if I can help with anything!

You're just a wealth of knowledge!!! I know where the knew Ikea is! Aaron works at the geek squad in the Best Buy right next to it. lol. I can find my way to that one without the GPS! Woot! I'll try that. I really do seem to love Maggie dresses. I don't know about a certain designer though, after a while, they all start to look the same!

Anyways, sorry for the thread hijack! I'll try the bridal center and let you know. I Think I'll try S2 as well. I remember you mentioned that one before. I'm ok with making appointments, at least I'll know I won't get ignored (ehem, ETHOS!). Thanks again, you're the best!! cheesy.gif

I don't know if you see it, but I really think this dress has a mexican feel to it. I can totally picture the train of this dress on a beach in Mexico. It truly is one of the prettiest trains I have seen.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
