ladies, to confirm I understand correctly...if you pay for the chair covers for both reception and cereomony- you pay twice? If you want chair sashes for these chair covers is it better to bring your own or can Tai Flora provide these?

At any rate, who has the best pictures and info for RMB. I have actually been taking notes re: all of you guys this site has been a God send.
I really wouldn't worry about the drug dealers! Not one of my guests were approached by any of them. There are vendors that walk through the water on the beach but they won't even say anything to you if you ignore them. The only people they talk to are the ones who want to be talked to. They're harmless.

As for the airport...yup you will hear airplanes but they don't start until later in the morning and end early enough at night that it doesn't interrupt sleep. I actually thought they were kinda cool and ended up either ignoring them(or not noticing them) or watching them fly by cause they were so cool. don't let it bother you! they're really not a big deal!

as for who has the best pics/info I have no idea who is around here now. things have changed since i was there. new WC's, new arch for the beach, etc. So my advice is to just keep checking on here. you'll eventually find everything you need!

I totally know what you mean about wanting your guests to have the time of their lives too. My advice is to spend your $$ on things that they'll remember rather than the small things to make the wedding pretty. Your wedding will be gorgeous no matter what!

The thing our guests remember most and most appreciated most was us booking an excursion for everyone the day after our wedding. we made it optional and everyone except for one couple came with us. we did the catamaran excursion with snorkelling and margaritaville and it was a blast. even those who didn't want to snorkel admit that it was the best part of the whole trip. It's the things you do while you're there that make it fun...not how decorated things were. I'm sure no one will look back and say...ohhh, weren't those sashes gorgeous? but they will say...remember the day we all stayed on the beach and played crib...or hung out by the pool and told jokes...etc. it will be a memorable trip for everyone, no matter what!!

good luck!

I have been watching this thread for months now, and there's always new information available!

I think, after searching and thinking about the options for making our wedding memorable we're going to end up doing the beach reception. It costs a bit extra regardless (of so I hear) but think about it: who has a reception on a beach in the evening where you can see the moonlight and hear the waves crashing? As long as no one gets too rowdy and tries to go swimming in the middle of the night, it could very well be the time of our lives!

We just returned from RIU MOntego Bay / RIU Negril last SAturday. Here is my review!

WE got married at RIU MOntego Bay. Everything was great and I would definitely recommend this resort for your wedding. We used the beach gazebo and reception was held in the steakhouse. The only thing I disliked was the fact that the steakhouse only had beer and wine to drink during dinner and dancing as there was no cocktail bar nearby. Other than that the day was absolutely perfect and exceeded all expectations. The head photographer MIchael is superb as we have some fantastic shots. After one day in a standard oceanview room we were upgraded to a phenomenol suite right above the gazebo where we were married.

For our second week we decided to switch things up and go to Riu Negril for the honeymoon.....big mistake. This resort is not a 5 star and did not compare to MOntego Bay at all. The drinks, atmoshere, rooms etc....were all disappointments. After 2 nights there we left and went back to MOntego Bay and all was well again. They even gave us our suite back!!!! IN Negril they wouldn't even give us an oceanview and the room that we had was falling apart and smelled of sewage. I don't want to discourage anyone who is getting married there but after coming from MOntego Bay we were truely dissatisfied and had to leave.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
