Azul Sensatori Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Afrommert - welcome to the thread!

I'm going to give you my honest opinion and you can take what you want from it :)

First off, i do not regret my decision to get married at this resort, i just didn't like the fact that i thought a lot more was included in the wedding package than what actually is.

Likes - the resort is beautiful, Karisma is well versed in weddings, food is supposedly good,

Dislikes - the wedding package is VERY simple, anything extra that you want is pricey in my opinion, they charge a $500 vendor fee, seems to be a lot of inconsistency in responses from wc to different brides.

They have a wc in Florida that you work with up until you arrive for your wedding, at which point you will be transferred to an onsite wc

So, in conclusion, I'm not in any way bashing this resort - obviously as I AM getting married there. I blame myself for not doing enough research before booking it. Basically I had higher expectations which I have since adjusted according to my budget, but I'm still happy with it :)

If you have any more questions I'd be happy to help you out!

Is there a wedding coordinater at the resort? I need some good tips :) Thanks anyone??
Congratulation and welcome to the forum. Being a destination bride is a lot more work than expected. Remember to be patient as sometimes it can be a bumpy ride.

I chose AS because they are part of Karisma chain and are a GI resort. My travel agent helped us with research and gave us some personal recommendations. AS also allows kids and also has an adult only area and we felt that was important.

Many of brides have said the food is great and the overall service is excellent.

The down side is there are a lot of extras you might want and that can become pricey. Be prepared to pay additional if you want to have a private reception or cocktail party. Also be prepared to pay a lot for flowers and any other extras like chair bows, covers, center pieces, canopy sheets, etc...
The resort does want you to use their photographers, but from what I have heard from the ladies on the forum the choices are limited. We are bring our photographers with us and we have told the resort and travel agent they are personal friends. They are also staying for 3 nights and that will get us out of the $500 vendor fee.

Make sure you stay on top of your Lomas WC. Make sure you get all your pricing in writing via email and if you make a change or update, make sure they provides that update to you in your spreadsheet. I caught mistakes in my WC's math in my spreadsheet and made sure she added the additional items to the total. I don't want any surprises when its time to pay up.

Over all the experience has been memorable to say the least. Its really all what you make of it. Just keep in mind that you are dealing with lots of different people and at times can get painful and tiring.
Good Luck!!

Welcome and congrats!

The other girls are truly being totally honest with you. I don't regret my choice in picking AS at all. I have had some confusing moments and am sure to have more but in my research (looking at resorts in MX for a year after I got engaged before deciding) and for what I need it's perfect and I'm satisfied.

In my research, other hotels have a lot of pricey additions as well and limited options, the only difference may be the allowance of outside vendors.

I too am bringing my own photographer as he is a "personal friend" and no worries. If you're creative you can figure things out and get your way.

It just depends on if you are looking for cost effective or amenenties.

Planning a destination wedding is a lot different than I expected and a lot more fun at the same time.

If I didn't have BDW I think I would have nixed the entire idea :)

Welcome to the forum!

I am very glad that I have chosen this resort. Like the other girls mentioned, the wedding package is very simple, and if you want extras (such as covered chairs with bows, DJ, private dinner, rented music equipment, flowers, decoration of the alter, etc...) those are all an additional cost. Although it can get costly, I believe what you are paying for is much better quality than what you might get at other resorts.

I have also heard that the food is AMAZING, and the resort is gorgeous.

The one thing that I am concerned about is the beach. I really wanted a resort that would have a gorgeous beach, and the beach at Azul seems like it has a lot of seaweed and lots of rocks in the water.

So far, I have had great responses from the WC's. They respond quite quickly and have lots of information.

Hi ladies. Today was kind of slow on the wedding side of things. My dj did tell me that we are getting ripped off on the equipment rentals, shows you what I know. He is going to talk to Lomas directly and see what he can work out I guess.

My 7 year old came home from Mackinaw Island this morning with a nasty case of bronchitis and eye snots, my first thought was, jeez I am going to have a great time getting her through Mexican customs next week. One look and they would sick the swine flu police on us :)

I am still not doing well on the picture posting, so I am just going to attach a link to the website with a few snaps of it.

Meghan - I fully plan on telling all my guests to go 5 minutes to the left, I saw on a Trip Advisor review a photo of the beach next door and it's GORGEOUS, that's my solution :)

Ash - I thought the rental was pretty ridiculous as well, makes sense that it would be.

I hope your kiddy feels better soon! Emergen-C does wonders if you can get a hold of some.

Your dress is beautiful! I love the details and the flowy back :)

Hi Ladies -

I'm brand new! I got engaged in June and started researching destinations for our wedding. We decided last month on Mexico and then narrowed it down to Azul Sensatori and Dreams - I'm leaning towards Azul...I'm so excited to find this forum and your posts have been soooo helpful!

Well, I've stayed before (last Thanksgiving) and we are going for a little vacation before school starts. I am meeting with the chef to go over menu items and to work out where our cocktail reception will be.

Oh, I forgot. I did get pricing from Senor Frogs today for my rehersal dinner. It wasn't too bad.

Not that I want to sway any of you new ladies, but thought I would throw out another option that I looked at and really, really liked. It is Hacienda Tres Rios.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
