Beaches Negril Brides - Post here!!

Recommended Posts

Hello Girls!

I wanted to share some pics of my Beaches wedding which was May 16, 2009. The entire experience was absolutely amazing! I would do it all over again in a second. Here is a link to our pictures:

The majority of these pictures are from the resort photographer, and some at the end are from my camera. We ended up doing the private 3 hour dinner which we had under a big white tent on the beach. It had a dance floor and everything. We brought our ipod and speakers and they were able to have a table setup for that. It was beautiful. All of my guest raved about the food (although the jerk chicken was a little too spicy for some).

I do have to say that Nikki and Andrea at Beaches are absolutely amazing. They couldn't be any nicer. We had a slight rain delay the day of the wedding (I walked down the aisle and then it started pouring) and Nikki kept reassuring me that everything was going to be ok and not to worry that I was going to have the wedding of my dreams.

Hi, Melissa

Your wedding pictures are fabulous.

I am also getting married at beaches Negril on Jan 6th and I only just got engaged in June!!!

I have a couple of questions which I hope you'ss be able to answer for me.

1. Your reception on the beach: Did you have a raised hard dancefloor and if so, was it condusive to being danced on by about 40 people?

2. Was there any privacy at the beach reception?

3. What was the name of your photographer?

4. Were there any issues with the sand on the beach- like with people wearing long dresses, sand in the food etc?

Thanks

Dance floor info - Amber just let me know that the price of the dance floor rental will be going up to $220 instead of $180. Just a little FYI in case anyone is set on having the dance floor. You might want to call & book it at the lower price! Hopefully they haven't changed the pricing just yet.

I already have a professional photographer booked, and have talked to both our TA as well as the resort about this and have been told there will be no issues.
I think you are going to have issues with this. I have spoken with soo many people about it and if your professional photographer has one camera and no equipment or anything like that then I guess you could use them. But basically anything more than a single camera would be considered a professional.."outside vendor". You would not want your day to be ruined by not being able to have your photographer. We have hired a photographer to take us off property and take our pictures. And Im going to use the Beaches photographer for our ceremony only.

I really do appreciate your advice but I'm still honestly not worried about it. I have confirmed with my TA, and more importantly the resort, that this won't be an issue. I'm following their rules, that my photographer must be a paying guest and I'm paying for a 3 night stay. The resort is still making their money and that's all they care about - whether it's by using their photographer or whether it's me paying for additional nights at the resort. I mean if the actual Beaches resort is telling me it's ok, what else can you ask for??

And here's how I'm looking at it --- unless it's a local photographer that they are familiar with, how would they know who's a professional photographer or not? They certainly aren't doing background checks on each guest. I mean some of our guests have some pretty nice camera and video equipment, that includes things such as tri-pods, extra flashes, additional lenses etc. but none of them are professional photographers. But you can bet that they are going to take pictures as well as video and there is no way the resort can tell them what kind of camera equipment they can or can't use.

Just my 0.02 :)

Thanks for the advice - that's a good suggestion. I'm definitely going to do this.

Melissa,

Thank you so much for sharing your pics. I'm getting married at Beaches Negril June 26, 2010 and pictures was a key concern for me. I knew going into this destination wedding that I would have to make sacrifices when it came to this part of the wedding since we have to rely on the resort, but your pics put me at ease.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
