Calling Canadian/Winnipeg brides

Recommended Posts

Good idea for a theme/holiday social. Maybe I will give it some more thought, though I am really not for it since we don't know a whole lot of people. That's what concerns me - the selling tickets part!

We thought about the Mayan too but after all the H1N1 stuff, no one is really all that inclined to join. Too bad.

KPEG,

Yeah I hear ya, about the ticket selling!! But we are just going for it anyway, we have planned for a halloween social oct 2010! lol!! If you have a social we will come! lol!!

As for cuba..keep it a second choice!! Then we can share our thoughts on Punta! lol...Just being silly!

How many people do think you will have at your wedding? We are thinking anywhere from 10-30? But who knows! people say they want to go now, but its still like a 1.5 years away!

Congrats!! Glad to see a few other Winnipeggers here! I'm getting married in Jamaica, so I don't know how much help I'll be. I've just started planning things too and the best thing I've done is have a Travel Agent friend start handling things for me, that way I don't make any mistakes regarding our bookings!

Good Luck!!!!

thanks!! my mexico package was about $1500 a person but when that got cancelled we got transferred to punta cana so i'm not really sure what the price of punta cana was originally. and they don't fly direct from calgary to punta cana in may (which is why we picked mexico even though punta cana was our first option) so everyone had to pay for a flight to toronto which was another $400.

my guests were on a budget too but i told them all a year in advance so they could start saving. and when we had to pay the extra flight to toronto everyone somehow managed to find the cash so those who go will really want to be there for you

my wedding package was $1350 USD then $600 for the reception and i had 22 guests so it might be less if you have fewer guests. the only extra cost i paid was for additional flowers and that was $50ish.

Hey KPEG,

I'm actually heading to the Mayan in January (not Cuba - though i did consider it), and wanted to say a hello. It's amazing how many fellow Winnipegers there are on here. I definitely agree with Jenninjamaica; one of the best things i did was getting a travel agent to deal with all the travel details, and initial contacts with the resort's wedding coordinator.

I'd love to hear from the girls where the best local shops/places are you've picked up things for your DW :)

Hey Joss, i am interested to know your wedding date and the resort you picked. I love seeing more and more winnipeg brides on here, it's great. I too have been very thankful for our travel agent, she has been taking care of most of the details, i wouldn't know where to start. The more and more i visit the forum the more i realize there are so many things that you can do for a destination wedding. i have not started shopping for anything for our wedding or guests yet, am still trying to figure out what and where to go too.

Hey lgregorash, I'm getting married January 27 at the Gran Bahia Principe Tulum. I was hoping to find a date twin, but haven't yet. I wonder if we're on the same flight out of Winnipeg? I'm flying with Air Canada Vacations on the 23rd.

Here's a question for the Winnipeg girls. Did you get your dress here in the city? Or head down to Fargo / Grand Forks or Minneapolis?

Omg, that is the same day we fly out too !!! I am not sure who we are flying with yet, might be Air Canada ! hilarious. We are grabbing a taxi and heading to the Bahia Jan 30th for our honeymoon lol. we have been the the Bahia twice already and this will be our third year there in a row!!! are you staying another week for your honeymoon ?

I bought my dress in the city, I probably went to every bridal and tried on a million dresses and ended up getting the first one i tried on. A friend of mine went down to David's Bridal in the states and got hers there, She loves it, another friend of mine is getting hers made.

Cheers Leanne

Leanne,

that is too funny. Do you know how many people you have so far? I wonder if both our parties will fill up the plane? That would be awesome, we could get the party started early! We're actually heading to the Barcelo Maya on the 30th for our honeymoon :P

Thanks for the dress tips. I'm looking into all 3 options :) Are you guys having a social or just an AHR?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
