Another question for people out there-anyone doing a rehersal excursion or dinner or something? Curious as to what people are planning.

Hi Allison and other brides,

We are doing an excursion on a catamaran for our rehersal dinner. I contacted catamaya :::::::::: CATAMAYA ::::::::::. I got the info through another bride on this forum who used them. Our photographer Samuel Luna offers an extra shoot so we chose to have him do the rehersal dinner and thought a catamaran would be really cool. They offer the following,

Morning Charter with Grilled Burgers
From 10am to 2pm

The lunch includes:
Green salad with Italian and French dressing, Guacamole, Mexican salsa, tortilla chips and an hamburger that our chef grills on our stainless steel grill on the back of the catamaran.

Cost: USD $40 Per Person

Morning Charter with Lobster or Steak
From 10am to 2pm
The lunch includes:

Green salad with Italian and French dressing, pasta salad, mexican salsa, Guacamole, Tortilla chips and Choice of one Rib Eye Steak or one Lobster tail that our chef grills (with garlic and butter).

Cost: USD $50 Per Person

You also may consider a Sunset Charter, as follows the prices and options:

SUNSET Charter with Snacks

From 3:30pm to 7:30pm
The quoted 'standard' snacks are: Guacamole, Mexican salsa, Tortilla chips and assorted nuts.

Cost: USD $34 per person

SUNSET Charter with Hamburgers

All the same sack as above
From 3:30pm to 7:30pm

Cost: $38 per person

SUNSET Charter with Lobster or Steak

All the same menu as the morning charter
From 3:30pm to 7:30pm

Cost: $45 per person

All the options above include:

- Beer ( Corona )

- national rum, vodka, tequila

- Sodas: Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite

- Juices: Orange, Pineapple

- Purified water

· All the snorkel gear is provided.

· The tips and transportation are not included. If you need us to provide the round trip transportation, please consider USD 10.00 per person.

· A 30% deposit is required order to book the date, and the balance will have to be paid one week before the event.

· At the following link you could find more images of Catamaya: YouTube - Catamaya Sailing Cruises

The only thing is as you see above it is extra for the transportation. They leave out of puerto morales. I am waiting for our TA to see if maybe there is the same thing local in Playa so we do not have to do the transportation.

Hi Soon to be Mrs. Howell!

We are going to do the lounge furniture as well! but i was curious to see if the Royal provides anything additional for the cocktail hour as far as cocktail tables, etc. We have about 50 people coming but I'm only going to order lounge furniture for maybe half - this way i can save money, i think some people will be standing/walking around too. My ceremony starts at 5pm, then cocktail from 5:30-7pm and then the reception starts at 7pm. =)

Jesmcan,

I love this idea!! My dad would love going out on a boat. Now I just have to see if I can sqeeze the extra $ out of my fiance. Things just seem to be adding up so fast. We thought it would be less $ if we went away to get married. Now it is looking like it is going to be the same if we did it at home...maybe more.

Ya we loved the idea to! and they are the sweetest people at Catamaya. As soon as I hear from my TA I will let you know if there are any options in Playa.

We live in Conneticut and getting married here is still about three times more than getting married in Playa. So we were ok with doing the exta for the rehersal lol

Thanks all for the feedback on the rehearsal. I have been in debate about the Catamaran, though we would love it, we do have people in our group who do get seasick...argghhh! Still a possibilty if there is nothing else that is as afforable and fun. As for a meal at the resort - I personally do not want to give them any more money when we are already paying for the all-inclusive at their resort and the wedding.

Hmmm... I have looked on line at a few places and am thinking maybe we do a brunch to keep costs down. Maybe a tour of some sort, but they all seem pricey too. Has anyone heard anything about the night show at xcaret? Probably expensive too.

Cindy-I agree that things do add up, but I think you get more for what you would be paying for a wedding in the states. It also reduces number of people and you have an "experience" out of all of it.

Thanks, I wouldn't have thought to ask this! I assumed they could be there as long as it was for the wedding. Guess I'm definatley having a private reception now.

Hi Brides,

Wow I am really surprised that no one was informed about having to have a private wedding versus semi-private with children. They told us this right off the bat. Basically it means you pay more. We even have to pay extra to have the welcome party private so the kids can come. Since it was still way under our budget we just went for it.

The only thing that really surprised me is we wanted a buffet to keep a casual atmosphere. And it is way more than a sit down! usually here it is much cheapier.

2) Taste testing. Were you able to taste test the food before your wedding?

Thanks!
Hi Emen,

We are acctually going on a site trip this Novemeber and a taste testing is included. However we put down a deposit so I was told if we had not it would be $50 per person.

I was told by several people the food is amazing there. Including Lori and Lincoln from Moments That Matter photography. They acctually said it was the best food they have ever had.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
