Moon Palace 2008 & 2009 Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

I have searched this site several times and haven't found an answer, so maybe someone can help me. I am having a reception at the Tucan terrace and was wondering the type of tables that will be used. I know there was a discussion of round and rectangular. I just needed to know for my decor.

MsGin - the resort is HUGE. I'm amazed by the size of it. The walking isn't bad, but there are golf carts EVERYWHERE to take you where ever you want. We haven't used them yet, because we're enjoying walking around, but even when we're walking, the golf carts slow and always ask if we'd like a ride. Everyone is really friendly!

Customs was a breeze. I got a green light, with three bags, my dress, and a carry on. Matt didn't though, but they only checked the maracas to see if they had drugs in them...LOL...they shook every single one. The customs man I spoke with while Matt was getting the maracas checked was super nice, and told me I was a smart traveler for bringing all my receipts. Matt was checked by a military man in fatigues that didn't know any English. LOL. But everything was a breeze. It took like five minutes. All that stress for nothing!

Nina, Glad to hear your here..... and all went well. I also think Honey is here. We leave in the morning. We have actually been outside the resort the last couple days visiting friends in Isla Mujeres. Got back this afternoon, in time to pack and to argue with the wedding office about the one major negative we had. We will let you know how it turns out.

Like i posted earlier, we only had a couple negatives and everything else went very smooth and was absolutely amazing. I hope to post my review next week early.

Our one major negative is we rented the IPOD station ($405 for 4 hours plus one extra). They didn't have any way to connect our iPODS after all our work putting playlists together. The guy had a laptop and was playing songs off it... and did find some of the songs on our list. Because my DH didn't say much about it at the time and just let it ride, we didn't get the problem noted. We argued with them all this afternoon because we don't want to pay 100% of the rate. Our guests did have a good time dancing and the guy did play songs upon request...... but I was ticked because all these songs we didnt have on our list were being played... very loudly. I have been talking to several people and had to bring DH into it because he knew more of the details. So far, all they offered to refund us was $25. We have a meeting with our WC and the music guys in the morning before we leave. Wish us luck. I really don't feel I should have to pay for 100% of this because it wasn't what we wanted..... and we worked for weeks on our playlist.

Again, everything else went very smoothly and was beautiful. It is a shame this happened to put a negative on everything that was so good.

Also, got our wedding photos today..... OMG, David's work was amazing. i am so pleased with what I have seen. Haven't seen the DVD or digital images yet though. Will probably do that on the plane and in the airport tomorrow.

Tina- CONGRATS!!!!

Nibsmom and Honey - Best wishes for a beautiful wedding!! I leave Tuesday morning and am so looking forward to it.

We invited EVERYONE to our wedding thinking most wouldn't come because it was a destination but at least we could say we invited them and the trick is on us. We have 117 guest coming. My mom flew in and helped me make and pack ALL of the OOT bags I've decided to price each bag with all items included at $5. Where is the template for receipt? I tried to use the one Tina provided but my Mac was unable to open.

Thanks ladies.

Cancun09 - So exciting that you will be leaving next week! We were scheduled to leave on the 29th, but due to our flight being canceled and moved 2 hours late we are thinking of switching to the 28th. I can't believe you have 117 guests coming! That is wonderful! I'm sure you will have a unforgettable time!

Unfortunately I do not have another link for making a receipt. Luckily I saw the head's up on here and having been keeping them all. If you can't find one, I would think just typing it all out in word (or whatever program you use for the MAC) and break down the cost of the items in each bag and then state how many bags you have.

Good luck!!!

Tina - I am sorry to hear about the iPod set up!! I wonder why it wouldn't connect? We have iPhones, but they said that they should be alright. After reading this I'm thinking of taking our laptop that has the capability of burning CDs just to be on the safe side. Hopefully they will give you more of a refund! Just remember, when it all comes down to it - your guests had a good time and I'm sure danced the night away :) I can't wait for your review!

Hi Eureaka!!

We ended up taking a little bit of a discount and leaving it at that! Like you said, our guests had a good time and the guy ended up being more like a DJ that anything so we decided it wasn't worth the hassle or headache of arguing.

If you decide to take CDs, put someone in charge of it. Even though we had downtime, we didn't have a moment to tend to anything ourselves.

You are going to have a blast!

To all you upcoming brides, Good Luck with everything!

Like I said, everything went perfect with the exception of the couple negatives we had and one wasn't worth us even addressing at the time.

Make sure you take advantage of the spa discount included. we got the 100 minutes of holistic spa included with our package. I used the $100 to upgrade my facial to a more intense one. Four hours of spa were heavenly. they really know how to take care of you in the spa.

Also, there are nightly shows at the resort. There are some really good ones, take the time to make them. Our favorite was the Mayan show which doesn't happen every week. It was so good we wanted to see it again this week but they didn't have it. Our other favorites were the Michael Jackson show and the carribean show.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
