Love the mirror idea. I've just e-mailed my girlfriend now to see if she is up to taking some shots for me too. Great ideas from everyone and Josie thanks for posting. It's really got my creative brain working and I can't wait to give it a go for myself.

photobucket does that a lot.

I really like the one with the mirror although I think her tag is showing. Do you know how to clone something out in photoshop?

It can't hurt to give DIY pics a shot. If you aren't happy with them, you can always hire a pro to do it later. With things like boudoir pictures, engagement pictures, etc you can always reshoot. I would not suggest DIY wedding pictures because there is no chance for a redo.

I'd be very careful with hiring a boudoir photographer off craigslist. It would be devistating to have your pictures end up on a porn site or in a magazine. I personally wouldn't be comfortable doing a BD session that is a portfolio builder for someone if they planned on using the pictures for advertising. I wanted to be very selective of how my pictures were displayed.

I went to a photographer with a lot of boudoir experience. She had all of the bases covered for privacy. The images were hosted in a secure online gallery that was password protected. In my model release I got to pick what I am comfortable with. I opted for my pictures to be shared via an ipod touch with other women interested in booking a session. They will not be posted on facebook or printed on advertisements. There was also the option to not have my pictures shared at all, but i was comfortable with other women who are thinking about booking seeing them.

Retouching is a big part of making BD pictures look great. The previous DIY pictures look really nice, but that girl does look pretty flawless. I don't think my pictures were airbrused a bunch, but the processing done on them was really flattering.

Lighting is important too. A room with a large window where you can let in a lot of natural light helps. if you are using a point & shoot camera, set it to portrait mode.

I found cute outfits at target, jc penney & kohls. They were inexpensive and I really liked them.

We actually re-did that one b/c of the tag, but her face is showing so I didn't post it wink.gif She is pretty close to flawless! I know she decided to print them at walgreens and I can't help but wonder if some 16 year old guy printed off a few copies for himself.........there is definitely something to be said for privacy/security. And in my case, PHOTO TOUCH UP!

In this case, the bride felt that she didn't want to spend hundreds on pictures she would never do anything with or show anyone, except her FI....but then again she is also having a massive traditional wedding costing thousands and she's already over budget.

Future Mrs. Kt Ellis - thanks for the tip. That's sounds like a great site to know, especially for us DW brides whose budget seems to be going fast..like me..lol...gosh, who says DW are easy..lol
I love that you're taking pics in his jersey, my FI is a huge SD Chargers fan used to play football himself so I'm going to definitely have a cute little pose in his jersey as part of my BD book too. I don't know why but guys love to see girls in their clothes.

Morgan thanks for the advice. I totally agree that craigslist is unreliable and if anyone does decide to go that route then please take friends. There are some crazy people out there!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
