It's always hard to know where to start!

First I would look into the dates that would work best for you, your budget and for your guests. Then I would start looking into the many resort options and what type of wedding package you are looking for.

A big question to ask yourself right away is if you want to have a legal ceremony in the DR or a symbolic ceremony. The legal ceremony will require more planning due to translation, and the resorts securing a judge on the day that you would like.

That should get your started, and just looking around here on BDW should give you a ton of information and don't be afraid to ask questions if you are confused about anything.
Thanks for the advice. I must have did some things way out of order. I contacted a TA before deciding on a date or even guest list! As for budget, I really don't have one either, but know we don't want to spend more than we have to and I'm going for a free symbolic wedding. So much to think about!!

Hey KPEG!!!

We are Winnipeg as well!!...although we are not quite engaged yet...we are planing for a destination wedding Feb 2011...lol, we are thinking of Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe or the Majestic Elegance, we went to Sell Of Vacations, south st. vital, and spoke with Melissa, she advised if we have a min of 10 people we can get a group rate, and once we come to Jan/Feb 2010 she an check on group rates, as they will not become available until that time for Feb 2011.

Have you thought of any resorts yet, or a date?

Congrats by the way!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
