Azul Sensatori Brides - POST HERE!

also, has anyone on here not yet had their actual wedding date confirmed??

I am not sure if this is different for me being in the UK but we booked the whole thing (wedding package and all) through our TA and it's now been a month we've waited for confirmation of our prefered wedding date.

really starting to panic as the whole time they're not processing ours, more people who are going direct could be taking the date we want. I wouldn't be panicking so much if we weren't restricted to just one date during our 2 week stay - my mum and brother are only coming for a week and once you've taken into account the 3 full days you have to be there before you can get married (and the national holiday in our first week) that only leaves one date before they go home.

arrrggghhhhh!!!! sorry...my turn to offload! lol

Katie.

Hi Katie 2010 - Im also from the UK and getting married in April 2010.

I booked with Thomsons in January 09 and only had my confirmation last month!!! We have had to chase them for everything!! It was only when we said we were putting in a formal complaint that they processed the wedding booking form and we had our wedding date confirmed. We are still waiting on confirmation for our two week prices from them. I am on the phone to them nearly everyother day.

They keep telling us that everything is fine and everyone is booked and when they eventually gave us some confirmation there were loads of things wrong (ie prices, names, room types).

Anyway we are getting there but very slowly.

My only advice would be to keep on top of them and keep pestering them for confirmation.

The one good thing is the wedding co-ordinator is fab!! She replies within 24 hours and supplies lots of pictures

Can I just ask, has anyone had a problem booking Claudia photogrpahers at the Sensatori? I really want Claudia Photographers but my wedding co-ordinator has emailed me saying that they are no longer approved at the Sensatori? Has anyone else had this problem??

I think I purchased 10 mediums, 5 large and 5 small. Here is a pic. I STILL don't have my professional pics back yet, but hopefully there are some better pics of the set up. I'll let you know.

We did the battery operated. One of my BM's is a major DIY'er and home with her triplets during the day, so she offered to take on the project of the lighting for me. They worked out great but I don't have all of the details on what she did. Sorry!

Katken, what is your thought on the new plaza in terms of size of dance floor/palapa? From the picture you have posted, it looks as if the area under the palapa (which I assume to be the "dance floor") is on the small side (as in, good for a group of 35-40, but maybe a bit small for a group of 80+ for dancing). Is this right?

Thanks!

OMG I hope that is not true! I emailed Grace, my wedding coordinator, about a couple weeks ago and told her i wanted to book Claudia. She said that was fine and that she would contact Claudia for me. Grace then emailed me back and told me Claudia wanted me to contact her myself. I emailed Claudia a week ago and haven't heard anything back. I know that Claudia is not included in the Gold package as a photographer, but as far as I am aware, she is approved, we just have to pay more. I am going to email Grace and ask her about this. I will post what I find out

The plaza was a perfect size for our 59 guests. It could even accomodate more. The middle area was the dance floor - see pic below. Based on the available options when I was there, I think the Zavaz Plaza (what they're calling the new plaza) was the best location for a reception.

I hope that helps.

Ahhhhh! I am getting so excited (even though we are still almost 3 months away). Katken, is the ground in the new plaza okay to go barefoot on? It's not sand is it? But is it tough gravel? Thanks!

Thanks Katken, did you have to bring down string or ties for your hanging lanterns or did they provide those? Also, did you use lanterns for your tables? If so, how was the wind situation?

Hi Aneleise...great to find another fellow Uk'er on here :o) everyone gives great supplier info but unfortunately are USA or Canada based so I can't use them - now we can try and help each other out!

Sounds like Thomson are just pants. They're now saying end of July to confirm(which won't be anywhere near how long you waited) but maybe I'll end up waiting that long too! We are being told that due to Swine Flu, they had loads of offices closed (in Mexico) and so now they are dealing with a back log and thats the delay. so essentially they are blaming the hotel - but I don't see how it can be them when lots of people on here booking through other travel agents are not having to wait so long. What did you say to Thomson to make them hurry up? They just keep telling me its not them, its the hotel so they can't do anything.

We've already booked the 2 week 'holiday' part so we shouldn't have any problems with that (more than we had at the time of booking anyway) as thats all confirmed and deposits paid - which is part of why im so anxious to get our date confirmed....that and I desperately want a wedding co-ordinator!! lol

Did you book the silver or gold wedding package with them?

Thanks,

Katie.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
