RPTB wedding cake

Recommended Posts

Since I am having my wedding cake made by a baker not at RPTB, I had to do some searching and request quotes. The WC at RPTB informed me that they have a "preferred" cake baker and sent a quote request for me. This quote has been by far the cheapest out of all the quotes I have received and I am still waiting for more quotes. I have seen the pictures of this baker's work, the cakes are amazing!! I was quoted $350 for a 3 tier cake that is less than simple. I have very specific details for our wedding cake and I am very happy that this was the price. I was quoted $700 for the same cake from another baker. That is a big difference!! (sorry, I cannot for the life of me remember the name of this baker) Now I thought the baker the resort used was going to cost a lot.

So for all you brides who don't plan to use the cake offered by RPTB, I would suggest asking about their "preferred" cake vendor and get prices quoted through them. It's worth it!

Also, my cake will be vanilla with strawberry filling. The cake will be white and it will be fondant covered with hand made sea shells and starfish. There are also other designs on the cake itself besides the sea shells / starfish. The sea shells and starfish will be dusted in a sugar coating that matches my wedding colors. Everything on the cake will be completely edible. It is really extravagant and will take a lot of hard work. So this price is unbelievably cheap!!

Wow, you're really on the ball getting things organized!

So, I'm also getting married there in February 2010.......I really haven't done too much with the resort yet - this might sound dumb, but is there stuff I should be doing now? I have photography booked, a confirmed wedding time/location, and have said that I would like a private reception. From most of what I've heard, it's suggested to leave stuff until closer to the date....but you seem to have lots going on already! :) Any suggestions would help, thanks!

You don't have to do anything until the wedding coordinator contacts you. Unless of course you are using services of people not associated with the resort, it might be better to get a move on things now. Also, you cannot lock anything in with the WC at the resort until about 2 months before your wedding. I am just getting a ballpark on pricing. I have my wedding gown, bridesmaids gowns, have my photographer booked, my flowers ordered, and now I am working on getting all the info and pricing on our wedding cake.

The WC contacted the baker for me to ensure that no details are missed and to ensure a quicker response and I received the quote within a day. The resort has to make the request themselves in order to have the baker make and deliver the cake to the resort otherwise there will be traveling fees. I do not know the name of the baker. I asked for a the baker's website, if they have one and I am awaiting that response.

Good to know....I was feeling like maybe I was missing something!

Where are you getting your flowers from? Are you bringing your own or getting additional ones from outside the resort?

How has the WC been so far? I haven't really contacted her about anything yet - but it's always nice to know what you're walking in to! :)

I am having my flowers done by Plumeria's Wedding Flower Boutique. I will be bringing them on the plane with me.

The WC is wonderful! Obviously, we can only do so much as the wedding is 9 months away, but she has been great in responding to me quickly and providing thorough answers.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
