photographer: DONE! videographer - ???

Recommended Posts

we just signed our contract for our photographer this week and it's starting to feel so real!!! yay!! she's awesome and i am so excited to be working with her. i think in all of the vendor shopping i've been doing, there is something to be said about the ones that get back to you pronto, and have a great personality that shines through their emails. luckily, she's got a shoot here in SF next month so we'll be able to meet her in person before we all head out to mexico! smile29.gif

this is who we decided to go with: www.karireneephotography.com

what a great feeling. next up...thinking about a videographer - would you past brides agree that a video is essential?? we really want a video, but don't know if we have it in our budget to have a videographer, esp if i'm not too stoked on said videographer's style. i could totally have a friend or family member film the ceremony, but for the rest of the wedding, do you think that the rate of success would be pretty high if we had a couple of video cameras around and just told our friends to pick one up every now and then so that we get a bunch of random footage and then when we get home we can cut a movie?

i'm also toying with the idea of creating a "video booth" in lieu of a photobooth and setting up a little flip cam on a tripod so ppl can come in and film "confessionals" or something. ...and we'll, of course, have props or costumes of sorts for them to put on while filming. thoughts? popcorn.gif

hey TAM1118 -

yup! she is located outside of Mexico, in Oregon. Her rates range between $2500-$3500. She's only charging us an additional $500 for travel, which includes everything from airfare to hotel and food. She isn't bringing an assistant, but I think that is because we are having a small-ish wedding.

Of all the searching we did, I think that is an amazing deal (well, obviously, or we wouldn't have booked!!) and I would highly recommend adding her to the list of photographers to consider. :)

Good luck on your search!!

Congrats on the photog, regarding video our WC just gave us two suggestions one is Promovision, which is around 700-1000 they have 2 diff packages and the other one is Arte Fotografico Digital (I don't have the recent list)

I wanted to have either Ricardo from Reelove (he was our videog before we moved our date as Fer Juaristi our photog but he was booked now), Armando Orendain from Flashbackwedding or Adrian Olvera from San Jose Video ... all of them are located in Monterrey or Reynosa and they can take a flight to PVR , and the costs are much much lower than coming from USA...

I have heard that Promovision is really good and their price is around $700. I just booked my photographer today! Woohoo! He is awesome (check out klila's wedding in Puerto Vallarta in May on his blog - so pretty!!!). I debated between a number of photographers, but his coverage throughout his stay was the best and the quality of his pics are great:

Houston Wedding Photographer J Cogliandro Photography. Wedding and Portrait Photographer Houston, Miami, Katy, Texas, United States, Mexico, Costa Rica, Caribbean locations and Europe

KLK photography also does amazing work for anyone who has a bigger budget - and Kristi Clemens from KLK is super sweet, professional and a true artist!

miss di,

Congrats on finding a photographer! This is a huge step in the planning process, or at least it was for us.

We ended up using Promovision and we were happy with the results. We both work in production and know how much it costs to hire quality videographers. I think overall, we were happy with the results. The price couldn't be beat and the turn around is fantastic. I think we got our DVD's (and all original format) in about 2 weeks.

Best of luck!

Yanell

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
