Wedding Boat, Reception Option, Review

Recommended Posts

I wanted to start by saying I have no affiliation with this company - I just thought it was a great alternative reception option.

Last month I was with a wedding group at the Melia that had their reception on here and everyone had a great time.

They take you on a small transport boat for 2 minutes to the larger boat. Where there is an open bar, a great table setup. You have a fantastic dinner (which you order beforehand) and then the table is cleared away and you can dance and they stop at one point and you can go swimming.

I was told that if the boat doesn't go to your resort that they will arrange transportation for you.

The staff is super friendly, especially the boat manager we had. He was completely bilingual and a really nice guy.

If you are looking for something different I would definitely check this out.

Hi! I'm having my wedding reception on the La Barcaza in November! I'm SUPER excited and so are all my guests. I'm so happy to hear that you think it was nice for a reception. We have it booked from 4 - 7 (sunset) but I am wondering if I should extend for an extra hour?? Any thoughts on that? Do you think 3 hours is enough time for some mingling, dinner, then speaches, special dances and some par-tay-ing!?

Hi - I did the wire transfer to pay my deposit - no problems at all! I just went to the bank with the information they sent, and did the transfer. I kept the receipt and scanned and emailed a copy to Flori. A few days later she replied saying they got my deposit. It was easy!

Well, I've only just paid the deposit so far because our wedding isnt until November. I am hoping I can pay with travellers cheques, but if they don't take those, I guess we'll end up having to pay cash!?

Steffi234, A few weeks prior to your wedding, Flori sends you an email with a receipt, final confirmation of cruise date & time, & schedules a meeting date & time to pay balance at the resort. On ours it said they take American dollars, Dominican Pesos or Travel Checks. I paid with travel checks for our sunset cruise back in April.

Ladies, you won't regret it. La Barcaza is great way to either treat your guests, do your wedding or even have a reception. Our guests are still talking about how much fun they had the night we went out.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
