lislett, I didn't think I could get everyone to book through our
TA either but every last one of them did. I had my TA arrange for our group to be able to put down a deposit ( $150 dep - deadline was last December) and then they had 5 months to make payments on it or they could pay it right at the end. They didn't have to sign anything and they could get 100% of their money back up until the final deadline. Almost every one of my guests took advantage of it in some form. This combined with the extras they got at Moon Palace all helped.

We originally started out with over 60 people and I was concerned about all the functions. It sounded to me that the only way to accommodate that big of a group is with private events..... so pushing your guests to go through the TA is worth it. I would tell people "not only can going through my TA help you budget but it helps us by giving us unlimited private functions." When they found out it also helped us, they decided to use our TA.

BTW, We made sure we had number or rooms and total room nights in our contract. Between economy issues, violence in mexico, and swine flu, we dropped from almost 30 rooms to less than 20, which gives you one upgraded event. Because the room nights was part of our contract, we still qualify for the upgrade event.... barely.

Hi Ladies-

I am officially finished with my school year, so I can now focus on my wedding!!!!! I have 1 month and 20 days until the BIG DAY! To be honest I have been so laid back about things working out and now I am stressed!! I have put in an email to my wedding planner to hopefully clear up some confusion. I still have many decisions to make!!! I am not sure what exactly to have after the ceremony since it is an early one, 11 AM. I thought about a lunch but wanted to know if others had an early ceremony and wondered what you were doing. Also, many people have talked about a welcome dinner. I would love to do that just unsure where to begin. I would love to have a dinner outside but wasn't sure if that would be included cost wise since they are all staying at the Moon Palace. If anyone can give me some direction I would greatly appreciate it. I am a laid back bride and am most excited about the actual marriage to my FI, now I need to get the details worked out.

Don't worry about this if you can't get it confirmed. My TA and I tried everything because I heard other brides say the same thing. There must be certain circumstances they do and certain ones they don't. We couldn't get our gazebo confirmed till about a month ago. All they would do before that is put a request in. We had requests in on several things and got everything we requested.

I shouldnt say that I am confirmed in the Tucan gazebo but they have assured me that they have requested it and it shouldnt change. That is giving me some confort but honestly I would be happy with any of the locations. Thanks for the room block tips! Can someone tell me if the Tucan terrace has an actual floor or if it is grass? That can be trouble for the women with heels.

There are photos of the Tucan Terrace on this thread. drtracy brought back a lot of photos of the gazebos and terraces so check the posts right after her wedding to see if there are some. Another place to check is the Moon Palace reviews.

I know this is probably the dumbest question, but i love my java.....

Are there coffee pots in the room? I was thinking about taking a bag of Starbucks ground coffee / filters with us! (Ha! Important things in life!) What size are the coffee pots?

We leave in less than two weeks, so this is probably something I should have figured out a long time ago...but, I'm wondering how your guests are getting from the airport to the resort. I know that when I booked through my TA, transfer was included, but we have a few guests who booked through an online travel site and I'm not sure if they purchased transfer. Does anyone have any suggestions of a site that I could send to guests if they haven't made arrangments? Thanks so much!

They do have coffee pots but sorry, I don't remember what size. I don't think they were very big though.

There are plenty of cabs at the airport if anyone doesn't have a transfer. If you'd rather you can probably ask your TA for recommendations. Maybe the shuttle that you'll be using is cheaper then a cab. Just a thought.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
