Best foundation etc for photos

Recommended Posts

Thanks Chantal! I did buy some stuff from MAC, but I will definitely look into this as well. I'm tired of buying the cheap stuff that doesn't work!!!

I've discovered great foundation you can get at any Shopper's Drug Mart in Canada. It's called No.7. It's actually made in Europe (France maybe?) and imported specifically for Shopper's. Not too expensive (cost me $23 for a bottle of foundation) and it is AWESOME!!! I have skin that flakes easily whenever I try wearing foundation, but this has not been an issue. It was recommended by my BD make-up artist.

I SWEAR by Armani Luminous Silk Foundation! It's amazing...lightweight, looks very natural and stays on.

A make-up artist friend recommended it to me for my wedding so I got a sample (which actually lasted quite a while!) and now I'm a convert!

I don't think Sephora sells Armani though...maybe. It might only be available at like Saks or Bloomies. In Canada, you can get it at Holts.

I also use Smashbox primer...I don't leave the house without it, even on "make-up free" errand days:-) But I use the bronzing one...which looks super dark in the bottle, but actually just gives you a really nice, natural kind of glow (another make-up artist recommendation:-))

If you easily sweat-off make-up, you might want to also consider a make-up "finishing" spray...MAC makes one and there's another on that comes recommended by girls on here, called Skindinavia Finishing Spray. I used this one and it was...okay. I've heard better reviews on the MAC one from friends.

HTH:-)

I went to Sephora last week and picked up a packaged box kit of Smashbox for $59that included the primer, concealer, lumunier, photo opt, and a lip gloss. I ended up also buying a foundation to use for now. Our wedding isn't until 2 months (Aug) and I'm at the beach at least 2 times a week in the summer, so I'll have to match up and get a new foundation closer to our wedding date in a darker shade since i'll be more tan then. Maybe i'll just get a sample to bring with me. I'll wait until mid July to chose eyeshadow and blush/bronzer, as well. I also just absolutely LOVE the lipgloss that I ended up buying form Smashbox! It makes your lips look so smooth and with a natural gloss.

The lady did my makeup there in the store. She gave me a few samples: a moisturizer, an exfoliant, and clinique eye cream for fine lines(that I need to save up and buy).

When I took my lighting class for photography, the class used me and 2 other girls as models most the time. I used MAC, one used Smashbox and the other used a drug store brand. You can tell the difference. Smashbox and MAC are thick enough that the lights don't penetrate through the make up. This will save your photographer hours in editing.

I know most people on here won't need or want a lighting set up, but that's something to think about.

Also, as far as MAC foundation, I quit using it everyday, cause it did break me out. I use it for special occasions. MAC will do a free makeover with a purchase of $50 (I think) but they'll give you a small pot of foundation for free. I'd do the make over and buy the blush, lip stick and eyeshadow - I have nothing bad to say about their stuff (other than the break out issue with the foundation).

Watch out .... Photographers advice coming through here.. MAKE WAY wink.gif heheh jk

you girls are all on the right track... MAC or SMASHBOX (actually designed for photographery)

I have found that those bareminerals stuff , even though great in daylight, they are reflective as all sin when it comes to photography. You're already going to be fighting the shinyness in those tropical locations don't add to that.

If its all outdoor daylight wedding then the photography aspect of it all wont matter because there wont be any flash but soon as it gets dark and everyones flashes come on you're gonna look like a bronze statue wink.gif

and there is my ¢¢

I beat ya to it :-D even though I'm not a portrait photographer.

I also forgot to add - USE MOISTURIZER AND PRIMER BEFORE THE FOUNDATION!! It'll do wonders!

Two Words: Laura Mercier.

These are some of the greatest products out there, and worth every penny. Sephora just launched the line a month or so ago, and right now they have a little pack with primer, tinted moisturizer, two brushes, three pads, a two tone concealer AND a setting powder for $80 cndn. And it all comes in a nifty little case.

Going with a tinted moisturizer instead of an actual powder or liquid foundation is a great idea for girls that don't normally wear make-up. It's less heavy, feels more comfortable and it also generally incorporates an SPF-- Great for DWs!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
