Yay! Of course, come on by. Crazy thought, if you don't go through with the wedding ceremony for lack of guests you should try to at least do a TTD or something so you get the beautiful pics of you both. I'm guessing with all the cancellations there may be an available photog!

I don't normally post on this thread but feel the need today since you all understand my current situation.....

My heart is breaking as I write this e-mail and I guarantee that it won't be my last. I am officially canceling my mexican wedding. I can not deal with the phone calls, e-mails, texts, fights, tears and not knowing what do do feeling anymore. Since the level was raised to 5 it has given us no reason to believe that we can still count on going anymore. There are too many people concerned and we don't want to do it without the 46 people that have committed to going with us. Pushing is also not an option because of the time lost by being a freelancer due to the wedding and the money would be greater if we wait and do it at another time. I just can't afford to go through the lack of work again and also can't guarantee that we could find a date that would work for everyone again.

Our plan B is to goto Key Largo in the Florida Keys because it would give us a beautiful beach, weather, sunset and ability to put everyone at the same hotel thus creating the weekend environment that we had planned in Mexico, as I have said from the beginning it isn't about the wedding day it is about the whole trip and time spent with everyone which we would lose if we do it here in LA.

I am still going to bring my Mexican Fiesta Koozies and gift bags that say May 15th even though I am now getting married on May 16th and I am still doing my starfish and chair bows and fans and having our friend do our ceremony so I know that I can end up with a very special weekend but just not what I wanted. If I wanted to do it this way I would have from the start.....

That being said I need to find a way to get over the loss and move on with the new plan. I told my Fiance that since we aren't doing Mexico we ARE doing a honeymoon even if its got to be paid on a credit card. We are planning to hit Hawaii for a week which I am hoping will make up for some of the things I lose out on in Mexico.

As I said I will still keep coming on here and checking in because I have gotten used to all of your support as well as the feeling of just getting to vent to people who actually can relate to me so I thank you all for listening and for your continued support.

For those of you who are in a similar situation I hope that you can also find a way to make the best of the situation because though it SUCKS it is still your wedding and its now part of your journey in life, its up to you to make it special and move on from it... thats what I keep telling myself anyway....

I so hope they lift the restriction for americans to go to Cuba. It is so pretty there, I'd go in a heartbeat!!

We managed to find a "replacement" for our best man ... and he's very happy to fill the position! Yay!
Well, I had my final fitting for my AHR dress, my MOH's last fitting and my mothers. All went well except my mother who apparently lost inches and has to get her dress taken in by NEXT Friday!! I also had to pick up some last minute stuff for the cruise since we leave saturday for Syracuse. I basically get to come home from there, wash clothes and pack for the wedding! What fun!!

I'm glad you found a replacement BM! I can't figure out why people wait till the last minute!

Don't worry, I'm crossing my fingers for you! Maybe you can sacrifice your FMIL to the Swine Flu gods!! I think that's the best idea, even if it doesn't work to get rid of the flu, you won't have to deal with the cow!!

Im so fed up - and im so sad i probably wont get my dress and my pictures - and we cant reschedule/postpone because we didnt go through a TA and our resort doesnt have any locations outside of Mexico so i wouldn't even know how to go about rescheduling anything. This is just so unfair.
Yael, I'm so sad!! I can't believe they won't let them come back to work for 15 days, so lame.

I'm crossing my fingers and saying my prayers for all you Mexico brides. I would have ended up in the looney bin by now if I was in your shoes.

I think all of us brides from the US are very fortunate to be able to choose how we want to deal with the Swine. For me, all my guests are flying American Airlines on either May 20 or 21 and at the moment they are only letting people change flights who travel through the 16th. Because of this, canceling is not an option for us at THIS moment. Even if they do allow changes for the dates we are traveling, I strongly feel that we will not change anything. like istephiez said, it would be near impossible to find another date that works for all of our guests. Given that there are no reported cases in the Quinterra Roo state, I do not feel that my health is at risk and if for any chance any of us do experience any of the symptoms, its just the flu. If treated, it is not life threatening. I am sure all of us have had the flu at some point in our lives. We will be talking Tamiflu with us as a precaution. I think that is basically it. The fact that they raised the pandemic alert level to a 5 freaked me out some, but Obama reassured me tonight :)

I will be in Mexico 21 days from now enjoying guacamole and margaritas as I lay out in the sun!

Uh--- Maybe this should be in the Swine thread?

Bianca I hope that your wedding can go on as planned. My parents and sister (who was traveling with a 3 and 5 year old) weren't too concerned at all yet the other side was doing more freaking out than I can handle. The not knowing if it was going to be ok got the best of us and since we needed this weekend to work out we found a plan b and when my best friend called to say her doctor won't allow her to travel since pregnant we decided this was our best option....good luck I think it will clear and you will all be safe to go as long as your other members don't freak out!!

My post from the swine thread:

I am literally am crying as I type this. I have joined those of you who called off your Mexican weddings. I just finished up changing the entire week from Cozumel to Key West, basically doing in twelve hours what took me six months to set up. Here is my new hotel Key West Hotels & Resorts Gardens Hotel Key West Hotels we have stayed there before. It really is very lovely. We'll get married on Smathers Beach.

To those of you who are going forward with your Mexican weddings I admire your temerity and strength.

So, my next thread will be: FS: 45 mint tins with "Jessica and Paul, May 20, 2009, Cozumel, Mexico" Any takers? crybaby2.gif

You are so lucky that you still have this option. I think/hope it will be under control by then and traveling won't be such a "risk". Unfortunately I had to cancel because the carrier jumped the gun and cancelled all of my families trips.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
