Three censored.gif months away!!!! Not only that, one of the guests is my only brother and his bitch of a wife that I can't stand. I really want my brother and cousin to be there and all of the ones that canceled said that if I move it somewhere else that is safe from the swine flu, they will come. Soooo after crying, constantly staying on the computer searchingshitfan.gif, FI and I decided to change our wedding to Jamaica. While I was on the phone with my TA this morning telling her about our possible switch and getting rates I said don't worry about my best friend and her husband-that I will talk to them about everything today and let them know about the switch myself instead of letting the TA call them. Well, the TA then informed me that my friend and her husband have called and talked to her, but NEVER BOOKED. Not even $1. These are friends that have LIED to us. They said that they booked months ago and I never checked up on it because I believed them. They called Tyler and I the day they "booked" and said that they were soooo excited and they had just dropped off the money and fully paid. They lied to us. I am so sad. I was wondering why my friend hadn't called me freaked out yet (she is a panic type person)-it is because they never booked. I am speechless. Okay getting back to my brother and wife and close cousin and her husband....they said that they would go ANYWHERE-but just not Mexico. I spent all that time and energy and tears and decided on Jamaica and my mom called and told them the good news and my censored.gif SIL said that they are NOT GOING AT ALL. That Jamaica is "dirty" and "she has never heard anything good about it" -her words not mine. I am beyond pissed. She told my mom that if we move it to Florida that they will go (they aren't from Florida, i guess that is just where she picked for me to have my own wedding). WTF!!! She also stupidly said that Jamaica "will be hit by a hurricane along with Cuba" WTF? Where does she think Florida is? Does she think its immune from hurricanes! Whoever gave her two degrees is retarded. So censored.gif them. I don't even care anymore. My wonderful parents, sister, and Tyler's wonderful parents and brother are going to Jamaica in all our glory!! I don't care who is there! Screw the liars and negative Nancy's! bunny_4.gifshots.gif Thanks for listening. My eyes are red from tears and it feels so good to vent to y'all.
I'm REALLY sorry about that!!!!!!!!! censored.gif

Thanks again! Hope you have a wonderful wedding!
There is no vaccine for this type of flu - DO NOT take a "regular flu vaccine"! As someone posted earlier it lowers your immune system for like the first 3 weeks or something... do more research on it. That is my advice! Good luck!

Richardson schools were closed as of either Monday or yesterday I believe - for the week, I think?

FI goes to school in Dallas near the airport and they said anyone showing symptoms is relieved from school - I said he should say he has it and just take a vacay! rofl.gif But they have to have proof, so.... darnit! cheesy.gif

Our new resort is the Iberostar Rose Hall Suites in Montego Bay, Jamaica. I have a mere two weeks to plan my new wedding before leaving for my 'honeymoon' on May 11th (yes, BEFORE my wedding!) We're back in Canada for 2 days, then off to Jamaica on May 30th. Our new wedding day is June 2nd. So far, 36 of our 55 guests have re-booked so that feels really good. Everyone has been really supportive.

Now I need to see whether there is an Iberostar Rose Hall Suites thread... haha.

Thanks for all your well wishes. It's been a tough week but I'm starting to feel better today.
That is awesome news!! If you need any help on the home front, let me know. I can defeintly kick some ass and take some names on the plannning front while you are on your pre-wedding-moon. Us Ottawa gals stick together!smile03.gif

You might be able to use the MP in the Dominican Republic if that would save you any money. I think you are way too far out to even be worrying about it but it's just a thought.

I'm with you "mean girls." We've just had some suspected cases reported in our county, which means someone has the sniffles. Seriously, I may be the only person that isn't stressed about the level going up, I figure that if they say it's global they won't bother to restrict travel b/c what's the point?

The waiting is killing me and I'm so sorry for all of you that have been cancelled. Good luck!

I am going to echo everyone else...you see people in a different light with DW...shocking actually! I say worry about your familys and you. Forgot the naysayers---they would have found anything to complain about. I think we have all had to deal with people who we thought would be 100% behind us and then did a 180. Keep your head up! Karma always bites back!

I know you are probably stressed and it's totally understandable, but what you have to remember is that the resorts are usually pretty safe. If your really concerned you can wear a mask at the airport until you reach the resort. Have you tried to contact your WC, photographer or hotel to see if they are worried at it there, and what they are doing to prevent problems?

IMO, if I were in your shoes, I'd still go and get married there. :-) Just accept that some of the family may not want to go, but it's your and your FI's day, the Sheraton is a beautiful resort, and the grounds are very spread out. I think the media is blowing things way out of control, as they do with everything. You just need to know what to do to be safe, take those steps and enjoy your wedding/honeymoon

Kara and Ryan are the not giving you any options to switch the destinationhuh.gifThey can't just take your money like that. That happened to a guy in Calgary and he went to the media about it and stirred the pot and finally got his money back...you should do the same that is BS!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
