Military Uniform for FI at Ceremony??

Recommended Posts

My fiance is in the Coast Guard and he always planned of wearing his CG Whites to the ceremony (their official dress uniform). We are getting married in the Riviera Maya. But, in light of the drug wars, he is starting to wonder if it is a good idea to draw attention to the fact he is in the coast guard. Especially because they interdict a lot of the drugs coming up from the Mexico coast. It is a long shot it would be a problem.. but with everything going on.. don't want to risk something else bad happening.

So, have any other brides gotten married with their fiance in their military uniform? Anyone planning to? Thoughts....

One of our brides Tami got married and her DH was in his uniform. I don't think he's coast guard though... I forget. Anyways I think you should be fine and safe if he's wearing it around the resort. It looks so classy, love it. Are you doing a TTD or anything out and about in the RM?

The uniform would look amazing on the beach, I second that! I also see where the concern comes from. Great advice though in talking to your resort or bringing them along but also having a backup plan. Maybe the area you'll be at isn't having a large problem with the drugs. Good Luck!!

I think he would look amazing in the uniform...especially on the beach....the resorts are usually so closed off I don't think it would be a problem, but you can have a back up plan in case. He should be proud to be serving our country and be able to show it off.

Wow. That would look amazing. I think it would be nice of him to wear it. I agree with the other ladies. I would have him plan on it, but bring a backup plan just in case. Maybe talk to the resort when you get there and see how they feel about it. I think it would be great thought!

I have to agree that it would look amazing. We have a lot of marines in our family and they are coming, but you might want to check on this. Joe's sis and bro are marines and they of course have to have all of this crap done in order to even come to mexico in light of the drug wars, but they were instructed that they were not allowed to wear their uniforms in Mexico due to this. So just check, other than that I think it would like great and if you're having a resort wedding i don't really see any issue. Its not like he's roaming mexico in it

Actually yes you're right and thank you for reminding me. I know air force has a travel ban on Mexico right now because of the drug wars so you may want to check on that. Jacilynda is correct it's also best to check with their commander (or equiv rank in the coast guard). Don't they do that when they're processing out anyways?

best of luck honey! We are just now really considering plan b as the military has been banned from traveling to mexico. this really hurts us w/ our family and its important that they be there and they don't have a choice in this. so hopefully they lift the ban for you!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
