Hopefully by the time your wedding comes, this whole thing will be over. I feel so much for you guys right now. It sucks that your weddings are being compromised by both the violence and now the swine flu. It is horrible!

This is horrible. I honestly didn't think it was that serious and thought maybe the news was hyping it up- but FI's two close friends got to Playa Carmen (like 40 min from Cancun) two days ago, freaked out, and are flying back today with doctor's appts made already. Good luck to all of you who's weddings are coming up. I can't even begin to picture how stressful this must be.

Here is an email from cecilia I sent here regarding cancellations/refund. I am still a little confused by her response.

Cecilia,

OK, thanks anyway. Just a little upset and now all that is going on in Mexico is stressing me out. Have you had any brides cancel beacuse of the swine flu? Are you refunding monies?

Gaylene:

We still waiting for the answer from our accounting department and from out corporate offices in Philadelphia.

We are positive that we will be fine pretty soon. Regarding the refund, yes we are thinking in that, I’m asking you for a little bit of time to have the right answer for you. Can you e mail me back next week, please?

thanks for that post ... knowing dreams they won't be giving any refunds, but at least it sounds like they are looking into what they will offer (maybe a rescheduling with no penalties, or a credit at another AMresorts elsewhere?).

this is getting out of control. i've been refusing to come up with a "plan B" and saying i'm still going as planned, but wtf? not sure if i've been being naive when i should be changing all my plans and freaking the f out?

just a few days ago my aunt and uncle actually ADDED two days to their trip! haha either they're crazy and like, "BRING IT ON, PIG F*CKERS!" or they lead very sheltered lives and don't watch the news, LOL!

After a year and half of planning, now we have to contend with not only the drug cartels, earthquakes, now the swine flu. What could possible be next? My wedding is May 17th in Cancun at Dreams. Hopefully, this will be cleared up by than. The news station reported only a few new cases of flu in Mexico today. Could this possibly be contained? Good luck to all the girls who have weddings in the next few weeks and that this mess is resolved.

My wedding is May 30th and I am not going to worry myself. The only thing that is driving me crazy is the negativity that are coming from relatives, stating that they might cancel. I am very hopeful that this will change, I have been praying about this and do not have a plan B. I spent too much time on this wedding to give up! I will work on plan B if nothing changes a week before the wedding. I am hoping that we can reschedule but what a mess if so, everyone has already scheduled their vacation time at work.

Stay positive ladies:)

I feel so bad for you! I just feel like it's one thing after another with Mexico this year. First, I had people asking me about the drug cartels and violence. Now, I am apparently a swine flu expert. It is just so sad that so much planning and anticipation goes into this and then a pandemic breaks out.

I spent all morning trying to find alternatives. I want a backup plan in case this doesn't clear out.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
