it's from Jcrew and they are always selling this style in whatever the season's colors are. It's the Sophia short dress. And it was on sale for $130 back in January when we got it -- best purchase yet! :) (oh, and thank you!)

We are doing red and light blue. Our "theme" is coral (long family story behind coral - weird, I know) and all the images we have for that are red. I was worried it would get a bit too patriotic but as long as we keep the blue light enough it looks more retro than fourth of july.

I also picked colors after the bridesmaids dresses were selected (navy). It was the only thing that worked for all of them. Then, I selected fuchsia (that's the main color) to go with the bougenvilla that are all around the venue so that I don't have to do a ton of decorating. The girls are wearing navy and carrying fuchsia daisies. The guys are wearing navy pants and white silk shirts. Our wedding invitations are passports (we just finished them - OMG - they are so cool - I'll post them as soon as I can) which happen to be navy in the US. It just all worked out.

The great thing about a destination wedding is that you have already thrown most of the conventional stuff out the window, so you can really do whatever you want! However, I think it's nice when there is at least a subtle theme that runs through your event, whether it's colors, an image like the starfish, a font, a "feel" you know? Maybe instead of having your colors be really consistent, you can have your flowers be the thing that ties the wedding to the reception, or something like that.

Thanks Kash! Yes, I did it myself. I got this huge burst of creativity early on and made a whole bunch of different looking designs. Actually, the ladies of this group helped me decide which one to use back on the old board. It was fun to do!

I don't think that the colors have to be the same at all. Especially since the bm dresses are all different I would think that the most important thing is that the colors all complement one another. I agree with Janet since it's destination alot of the rules are thrown out or made to be broken. Keep us posted!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
