Deadly swine flu virus in Mexico

Recommended Posts

Ok girls, so after much consideration, we have begun working on plan B. I made some calls to some resorts on Maui (I know, how do you go from Cancun to Maui, but I love them both for different reasons.) The good news is that they have the date open & their wedding packages are actually priced better than Mexico, the bad news is that unless they issue a ban on travel to Mexico, we will have to pay a $250 fee per person to change our reservation. So, were not sure, but 3 1/2 weeks out I feel like its better safe than sorry, so we came up with a plan B. We are bringing children, so if things don't perk up soon, Maui here we come!

Ladies,

I am also freaking out!!!! I have heard form a few guests at a shower I had this past weekend and I starting to worry that we may loose a few people, which will opt for not coming.....I was just reading that they raised the epidemic alert and it's just shy of a emergency situation, where all trips to Mexico could be cancelled....

I do think that things in Riviera will be fine, but it is so hard to make people relax.....with all the bad publicity about the drugs and violence, I fell like this is just the last drop of people's concerns about going down....

HELP!!!! :o(

I just want everyone to know that I am in the same situation. I am a very stressful person to begin with, so this is really taking a toll on me. If it's not the drug cartels it's the flu, then an earthquake. I am trying to keep my chin up and act like everything is okay. Unless they issue a ban on traveling to Mexico I am up for it. My dream has always been to be married somewhere beautiful on a beach, like the corona commercials. All we can do is pray and hope everything will turn out okay, it's in Gods hands!

Everyone has to remain positive and still move forward with their wedding plans! Things like this happen all the time...the media creates such a frenzy that it makes all our heads spin! The reality is that it's concentrated in Mexico City, it's treatable, and their well on their way to taking care of everything. So, all you brides...everything will be just fine! Whether your wedding is planned for Mexico, Hawaii, Japan, Australia, the moon, it doesn't matter...these things can happen anywhere, at any time...keep your immune system strong by eating healthy, exercising, getting enough sleep, and most importantly not stressing out. Good luck ladies :)

I am about to crack... I get married in 2 months, graduate in two weeks, and am in finals now for school, and getting prepped for grad school... and now this? I have gotten a lot of phone calls from people, and so far no cancellations yet... but I am "over it"... if people cancel, then thats on them... if worst comes to worst, TA said we would have to move the wedding to another location... WTF.... I wanna cry, but things could always be worse, we need to put things in perspective right?? Life is short... My heart goes out to everyone and anyone suffering through this, and planning their wedding in Mexico... let's be strong, my prayers are also with all of those who are sick from this flu.

I think you mean cases. I don't think anyone has died in Canada or Spain. There have only been six confirmed cases in Canada. Two in British Colombia and four in Nova Scotia (I think...or else New Brunswick?) Sorry I am not 100%, just know it's one of those east coast places.

I also apologize for my earlier post, I dont know what I understood on CNN thinking that they'd raised it to a phase 6.

Oh, I hope you're right. I just saw the update on the CNN ticker. I hope I miss-saw it!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
