Deadly swine flu virus in Mexico

Recommended Posts

In times like these I like to turn to Bob for advice. Here's what he says:

"Don't worry about a thing,

'Cause every little thing gonna be all right.

Singin': "Don't worry about a thing,

'Cause every little thing gonna be all right!"

Rise up this mornin',

Smiled with the risin' sun,

Three little birds

Pitch by my doorstep

Singin' sweet songs

Of melodies pure and true,

Sayin', ("This is my message to you-ou-ou:")

Singin': "Don't worry 'bout a thing,

'Cause every little thing gonna be all right."

Singin': "Don't worry (don't worry) 'bout a thing,

'Cause every little thing gonna be all right!"

Rise up this mornin',

Smiled with the risin' sun,

Three little birds

Pitch by my doorstep

Singin' sweet songs

Of melodies pure and true,

Sayin', "This is my message to you-ou-ou:"

Singin': "Don't worry about a thing, worry about a thing, oh!

Every little thing gonna be all right. Don't worry!"

Singin': "Don't worry about a thing" - I won't worry!

"'Cause every little thing gonna be all right."

Singin': "Don't worry about a thing,

'Cause every little thing gonna be all right" - I won't worry!

Singin': "Don't worry about a thing,

'Cause every little thing gonna be all right."

Singin': "Don't worry about a thing, oh no!

'Cause every little thing gonna be all right!

OMG ladies I started crying today at lunch I am so upset and stressed about this. censored.gif I've been following a live blog about the Swine Flu Epidemic on the Wall Street Journal's page at this link: Tracking the Swine Flu Outbreak: Monday - Health Blog - WSJ

It updates about every hour or so you get the most current news and info. I definitely would suggest checking it out if you are worried like I am. Here is the most recent update: "2:20: Health Blog reports that the World Health Organization moved up a planned meeting to decide whether to hike the the global pandemic-alert level to Phase 4 or 5, up from the current Phase 3. The meeting had originally been scheduled for Tuesday but is instead taking place today."

This is very scary, because if they do increase the alert level to Phase 4, that means there will likely be a ban on travel to Mexico. Everyone cross your fingers and say a prayer that this doesn't happen! Thank goodness we have each other to talk to about this scary issue! At this point none of my guests have contacted me about this, maybe because my wedding is still over 3 weeks away. However, I am going to go into hysterics if they place a Travel Advisory warning against going to Mexico. With the number of cases rising rapidly, its not looking good.

Stay strong ladies!

Girls getting married soon, I so feel for you. I am the most paranoid person I know and I can't imagine how I'd be handling this if my wedding was right around the corner like so many of yours are. Let's hope the media is just blowing this out of proportion! I admire your strength in not being worried about this! I hope this all blows over soon!

I can't take my eyes off the news channel, and I think that's the worst thing, they're just scaring everyone more! My thoughts and prayers are with all of you planning you weddings in the near future. I'm sure all will go well ladies!!

Well, no one is calling me yet, but my mom is being bombarded. Everytime the news reports a new case my aunt and uncle call her to say they are worried about her going. My great-aunt, who calls my mom daily, has already beat the drug wars topic to death and now this. My mom is a worrier, in the WORST way, so to get her all up in arms is the last thing I need. My son will be traveling with her since this is our honeymoon too, and now she is talking about rubber gloves and medical masks and not letting my son touch anything. To a degree I get where she is coming from because he had RSV as a baby and now almost anytime he gets sick he ends up in the hospital, most recently with pneumonia, but this is ridiculous, I leave in 16 days and as much as I am trying not to let it get to me and tell myself that its not bad where we're going, that nagging little voice in my head is starting to get louder.

Great outlook and Bob is 100% right! I'm leaving for Canucn this Saturday too- and FI and i decided (after my "almost breakdown") that we're going and that's it. anyone who wants to stay home can cancel and get full refunds- so screw it. If we're gonna get sick we could get sick just as easily here in the states- i am not watching anymore news!!
Good luck to everyone else ;-)

Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone is concerned about the swine flu? I have guest that are concerned about traveling in June? Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Also has anyone dealt with cancellations on your wedding based on major events like this? Make sure you get a force majeur clause on your contracts if possible. I'm trying to find out if its too late to do that with my vendors.. wish i would have done that earlier!

*sigh* WHO is raising a worldwide pandemic alert for swine flu to 4 because of human to human contraction -- ugh I hope this is the worst of it, and it will all fizzle out quickly. i know these things are all being done so people are aware and take precautions, but it doesn't help when all these organizations are advising against all non-essential travel to Mexico sad.gif

are any of you guys taking a proactive approach and sending an email out to guests about this? so far i've gotten an email from a bridesmaid, i know it's just a matter of time. and of course my dad is freakin out ...

I sent an email out that said this...

Greetings Friends and Family,

The countdown has begun and we are ecstatic! But we are also now anxious. As we witness the swine flu issue unfold we are keenly aware that it could have an impact on our plans. We are in close contact with (Our TA) and are sorting out what our options are should this issue not resolve itself fairly soon. We can move the celebration to another resort but at this point we are waiting to hear the official determination is from the CDC. We do have other options and will keep everyone informed. We will update you all in the next couple of days.

We are channeling all the most positive energy and love in the world to our destination and we ask that you do the same!

I just had my first real breakdown of tears -- I hate that this is happening to all us Mexico brides sad.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
