Argh!!! Wedding date and time!

So I am getting really frustrated about our wedding date and time rant.gif I've been emailing back and forth with my TA and it seems like we won't be able to get anything close to what we wanted. I know that it depends on both the judge and the resort in Punta Cana, but still! Argh!

Here's our whole thing, we want the wedding asap after we arrive since I know that I will 1) not eat a thing until the wedding dinner (my friends joke that I'll get there, eat a carrot and balloon!) and 2) I don't want to be worried about it all week! The other thing is that we want it at around 3pm in the afternoon. So far our only option is to arrive on the Saturday or Sunday and have the wedding on the Wednesday at 1pm. I can deal with the Wednesday but 1pm seems way too early in the day for us. I know that other people have loved getting married at this time but for us we're worried that it will be too hot and most of all what the heck does everyone do between the wedding and the dinnerhuh.gif!!! I'm really not the change out of my dress and lounge by the pool until dinner type of person and I doubt that our pictures will last 6 hours, lol. I'm just worried that I'll look all hot and frazzled by dinner and will have to fix myself up a million times. Plus, where do I hang out in a wedding dress for that afternoon, lol.

I hope I'm not being all bridezilla about this, I'm just a bit worried about looking good on my wedding day in the first place and I want to make sure that my guests have a great time!

Thanks for listening to my rant!

Hey Mel!

My wedding is at one, and I have some of the same concerns. I'm think I will have a cocktail reception between the ceremony and dinner, and then have the reception earlier.

I don't really know what your hotel is like, but I've talked with a lot of my friends and they don't think it would be a big deal to put a gap between the ceremony and reception either, since I'm at an AI. There will be plenty of things for people to do, and I can always put my dress back for the reception!

Good luck!

I totally understand what you are saying. I also want to have my ceremony asap after we arive. Cua I know I will worry about gaining weight with all the food and alcohol and I'm also worried about tan lines from my swim suit. You are not being a Bridezilla at all!

I would really try to push to move the wedding until at least 3. Our wedding was bumped from 4 to 2 and it was really hot at 2 and our guests did not want to go and change and hang by the pool and then have to be back so they just went to the our cocktail hour well in our case hours from 3 til 5:30. We did hire a band to for 45 min which helped break up the time.

Thanks for the advice! So as of right now our TA is seeing if she can get us flights on the Monday and we would get married at 3pm on the Thursday. I don't know how everyone would feel about leaving on a Monday though, do you think they'd be worried about possibly getting back late of a Sunday?

Worst come to worst I guess we'll have to fly there on the Sunday and take the 1pm time. A cocktail reception and a band would help to fill the time. I just keep picturing my poor little grandmother melting in the heat though (we'll be on the beach). Argh! So complicated! We should be hearing back from our TA on Monday so I'll let you know what we figure out...

Im leaving on the monday and getting married on the friday at 3pm.. if you want a later time period for your wedding id suggest going that route because then you will get the timings that you want!... also, for you and the wedding party, you could use that gap to take pictures and such.. and im sure that that will take up a good portion of the time before the reception :).. your definitely NOT being a bridezilla and I hope that you figure something out so that you will be happy with the way your wedding goes!

You know, it is possible that some people will complain about flying down on a Monday...BUT, you're going to have complaints from some people no matter what you do! I think they'll be more thankful for a wedding later in the day when the temperature isn't so high even if they don't realize what the other option would have been.

Make sure you please yourselves first! I think you're absolutely right in wanting a later time and you're definately not being a bridezilla!!

I hear you, I just find it so ridiculous that the only have 1 judge in Punta Cana! I've been asking since August about a wedding date and they wouldn't even take my name down and finally my TA was able to get my in the provisional calendar. But I doubt I will get the date I requested and I will be very very angry!

I totally understand what you are saying. I think that every woman getting married is afraid of gaining weight before the wedding! I read lots of reviews from brides who got married early and it turn out great anyway... but I know what you mean. You are not being a Bridezilla at all! I hope that you get exactly what you want!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
