I am also trying to shed off some pounds so am not looking for a wedding dress quite yet. My mom is coming in a couple of weeks though to visit (she lives in Minnesota, I live in Oregon) so we're going to look for dresses with 3 of my BM's. I'm just planning on trying on dresses to find a style that I like. And then once I lose some significant weight, I will go dress shopping again. I'm lucky, two of my BM's are also engaged, so we never get tired of wedding talk.

That's funny..three of my BM's are actually engaged!!! So with them I can talk about weddings all day long...it's everyone else that's sick of it, lol!

Does anyone know why some resorts allow three and others four?
They do seem to have a confusing system. My advice would be to narrow down to the resorts you like and contact each of them for an individual confirmation. I know it seems a pain but there is so much difference between them that its the only way to get the right answer.

Also worth bearing in mind when choosing not to look at the resorts that specify 4 days prior is that some resorts include the day you arrive and the date of the wedding so its easier to fit into a 7 night holiday than it first seems. I would hate for you to turn down your dream location because of the 4 day rule only to realise you could have managed to fit it in.

Finally if you do set your heart on somewhere but are still worried or unsure of the days prior thing speak directly to the WC at that location, from reading through a lot of the threads on this site I have come across several instances of WC's "bending" the rules to the brides advantage... Its always worth asking nicely. blush2.gif

Hope this helps x

Try not to rush your process. You could always send out STD's with prices and travel info to follow.....

As long as everyone is aware of your plans and chosen dates they should automatically start budgeting.

Another idea is to loosely base your info on last years prices plus 10%, but give yourself plenty of time to research this and make it clear that these are not set in stone! A good way to do this without printing costs is to put all your info on a wedding website and you can just update easily as the info comes in. Dont forget to include the address on your STD's and hopefully everyone will be so distracted looking at your site they will give you a break about final prices...for a while anyway.

Be patient it'll all workout.

Hi guys and congratulations to everyone. Hi Kimmy I did not visit the RIU only because they did not respond to my e-mail requesting a site visit. When they did I was leaving for Mexico the next day. He said that they were Sooo busy that I could stop by but no guarentee they would have time to show me around but that I could refer to their wedding packages on line. I thought, hey "dude" I am coming from Chicago!! but thanks anyway. So I decided not to waist my time!!

HI utbride2010, I decided on Occidental Xcaret, you must have read my mind I just absolutely love it sooo much that I am willing to compromise with the man made beach. That would be my only complaint because I had my heart set on getting married next to the ocean. Is Occidental Cozumel just as beautiful? If it is really similar minus the beach I might consider changing. As far as the pricing ladies, the Occidental has a fab offer that since the 2010 prices are not out yet, they are offering a booking at 2009 prices. They dont think it is fair that your plans should be held up because the prices are not out yet. AWESOME!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
