jwalkowiak - That picture actually looks like the steakhouse....I'm about 99% sure it is the steakhouse. The Tropical is open air? The reason I think that that picture is of the steakhouse is because it's open air and it's by the blue buildings in the background (which were the buildings DH and I stayed in which are a few feet away from the steakhouse, the rest of the buildings on the beach side are red and orange and the buildings on the del mar side look totally different than that altogether).

Edit: Just looked at the rest of those pics, it is definitely, 100% the steakhouse...I see that they served the onion cactus to start ine one of the pics...the exact same starter they served us with. Also further in, the exact same steak/ribs/sides that we had at our reception at the steakhouse.

Thanks Paraisobeachbride2009! Sorry about that! I think it still gives a good idea of the tabel size mabye though? I heard the Steak House and the Tropical are simlar in layout, is this true?

jwalkowiak - No problemo, just thought I'd help you out so you weren't expecting the exact same thing on your big day only to be disapointed. sad.gif I never had the opportunity to try out the Tropical so I'm not sure what the difference (if any) between the two of them is. Sorry I can't help more! I'm fairly positive that all the tables around the resort are the same, so yes, this should give you a good indication of table size. :)

Well, here's hoping and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that Reyna will have some sort of clue about your wedding. It's coming up quick, so I'm really anxious for you to go and come back so I can hear all about it! :) I'm sure everything will work out in the end.

Awwww thanks!! You're to sweet! smile03.gif I shall continue to forum whore until you girls are sick of me, muahahaha!

I loooooooooooove my pictures. Soooo happy with how they turned out and I'm thrilled that we look great because I'm never sure about how I look. Most people I show the pictures to don't even believe that's me since I don't wear makeup often lol I guess I look like crap most days haha!

I have a question for either of you or ParaisoBeachBride2009. My FI and I are having the civil / legal ceremony and are wanting confirmation of the legal documents that are required. Intially, the WC said they need a Spanish translation of birth certificates with an Apostille, but now she says they no longer need an Apostille. Could you please help me with whether or not any Spanish translations are required?

I apologize if this has been discussed previously. I couldn't find it : ) Plus the rules have apparently changed recently.

Thank you!
This was the most confusing and frustrating part of the entire process of getting married in Mexico. We were told (time and time again) that we needed to order the long version of our birth certificates, have them translated into Spanish, and notarized and authenticated to have a legal ceremony at the Lindo. I had a friend that was getting married at the Del Mar a month before our wedding and she didn't need to get any of that stuff for her legal wedding. They just kept telling me that the different resorts within the Iberostar complex had different requirements. Whatever. So we went ahead, ordered our long version birth certificates, had an official translator to translate them into Spanish, had a lawyer notarize them before sending them off to the Foreign Affairs and the Mexican Consulate with a $200 money order to have them legalized and authenticated. When we hadn't received our documents a week before we were leaving we contacted foreign affairs to find out why they hadn't come. As it turns out, Foreign Affairs LOST our documents (original birth certs, translated copies, letter from laywer...everything). So needless to say, we were pretty much screwed for getting all of the stuff in time and at this point had wasted almost $500 in the process. With other stuff to worry about, FI and I both decided that we weren't going to stress about it, that we were going to go have the wedding of our dreams even if it meant having a blessing ceremony and getting legally married when we got home (having a legal ceremony was very important to me).

After all of that, it turns out that those documents are no longer needed. All that was required of us for a legal wedding were our birth certificates.

So I guess to answer your question (and I must apologize for the long rant...can you tell that I am a little bitter?), you DO NOT need to have a Spanish translation or an apostille.

We had a legal ceremony and we were required to have 4 witnesses sign during the ceremony. We only had 2 people standing up for us, so we decided to have our dad's come up during the signing to be our 3rd and 4th witnesses.

You do not need any witnesses for the blessing ceremony.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
