Oh No :-( I don't think I love my Dress anymore.....UPDATED with NEW DRESS! #36

Recommended Posts

Sweetie - don't worry about "wasting every body's time" - Seriously - YOU are the bride! It is the ONE day you get to be the center of attention! And you should, and you DESERVE to look beautiful! This is all coming from me, a 3 dress bride LOL! You look beautiful in that dress you picked out, but if it doesn't feel like *the one* I certainly think you should go try. My 3rd dress, that happened to be the one, I bought from DB rigt off the rack. It was brand new, luckily, and it fit me like a glove. I loved it. And I'm so glad I bought it! So the point is, take the dress with you, try it on with a veil and shoes and jewelry and if you still don't love it keep trying on dresses. Make sure you bring a camera, and don't make any decisions that day.

Wait, go home, look at the pics, sleep on it, and the next day make your decision. Good Luck! I was SO in your shoes once, and I never regretted buying my dream dress.

Don't forget if you go to the DB in Philly and you see something you like that's not in your size, make them call the other ones in the area. I know there's one in Deptford, even one down here in Mays Landing now. So you may not have to get it rushed, you may just have to drive and pick it up.

I do agree go out and do it over. Get "the one". After 7 years of mine being in my mothers attic, it was still "the one" after I put it on again.

*HUGS* BREATH. If you are not happy with it get something else. Take a friend this time. Have them watch your face and not how you look in it. They will see you glow once you find the "one". They will see it in your eyes. It only matters how you feel in it and not others.!!!!!

Murmergirl,

I have to say your posts are so comforting when I read them. I felt the same way about my dress when I bought it. I am soooooooo concerned with my "back fat" too. I went with a dress that was so not what I had in my head with a very low back and of course being the size I am I could not try it on because it was a size 8. I still to this day have not had it on yet as I am still waiting for it to come in! I worry about the dress everyday but I know in the end ..... A there is always something they can do and B I will look like a princess! LOL

I love that dress. It was the on the top of my list to try on when I went to Davids Bridal. When I put it on I got all emotional, but it was not because it was the dress, it was because I had built it up so much. I tried on a few more dresses and ended up chosing another, but that dress still is in my maybe list.

You have to wear what makes you feel beautiful and feels good to you.

You do look very beautiful in that dress

I am so glad David's was helpful to you. I have to say I went through the exact same situation. My wedding is May and I waited till January to try on dresses and when I was at David's the first time, I felt rushed, like I HAVE to get this done, I have to order a dress today. I tried on 16 dresses, 16!!!! I was so overwhelmed and couldn't say I loved any of them. I had narrowed it down to 2, one "beachy" and one traditional and as they were writing up the order for the beachy one, I changed my mind to the other and then by the time I got to the register, I changed it back because I heard everyone else in my head saying the traditional one was "too much dress" for Mexico. My mom paid for the dress for me, I was told 8 weeks, and then 2 weeks later it was in. I picked it up on a Thursday night, tried it on at the store, at my mom's and at FMIL and I HATED it. It was a beautiful dress but it was not meant to be MY dress. I fretted for days, didn't want to tell my mom and when I finally did, she did think I was crazy. But I called anyway and they told me the same thing they said to you, I could exchange and I found 1 friend, just 1, who actually hadn't gone the first time and went to try on more. My consultant this time didn't make me feel rushed and she told me flat out that she wasn't letting me try on more than 5 dresses so I wasn't overwhelmed. She pulled three I tried them and they were okay. Then I showed her the one dress that continually drew my attention online, she pulled it and even 2 sizes too small, I could tell it was the one. I LOVE my dress now. I can't stop myself from putting it on, except now its in for alterations. I am so glad you went with your gut, the dress you bought is beautiful as you said and it does look GREAT on you, but man, nothing beats that feeling so go find that feeling!!!!! I am so excited for you. Good luck with your shopping.

You know when I went shopping with friends, I totally was getting persuased into what they were saying. I took pictures and went home and looked at them, and all I could hear was everyones opinions. When I looked at them I felt like I was playing dress up in a way. I also thought I looked huge. So I decided to go on one trip by myself. The dress I thought I would love, I didnt. So I tried on a few more. 2 dresses later I had this feeling I cant even explain. Not so much teary emotional, but more joy and that I felt beautiful. I felt like a bride. I knew it was the one. :)

OMG..I could have wrote this post!! That is Exactly how it happened with me!
I tried on like 15 or more dresses, I was over whelmed..I wanted to make a decision..I had it down to 2 dresses, a Beachy and a traditional and I picked the traditional dress because everyone was like, well it's Mexico in June and blah, blah...

I have told my mom and she was a little surprised at first..But she said I have to love it. I told her she didn't have to come with me, But I know she really wants to. So I think her and my sister are coming.
I am printing out all of the dresses I love and I am trying on every single one!!

I am going thursday.

Thanks again Ladies..You are all the best.
I know you all understand, because you have been there.

Now..In regards to back fat, which I have as well....I noticed that even though that Bra thing from Davids Bridal was a size bigger then my normal size, It gave me this horrific two rolls in my back and I really was about to get a turtleneck dress!!
But after I took it off and decided to get cups sewn in (To whatever dress I get)...My Back looked much better, so Ladies, remeber that is an option. Don't let the Bra thingy make your back look worse!! :-)

I will post pics to this thread on Thursday night :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
