Blkatz - i live and work in C.C. too! what neighborhood do you live in? have i asked this before? lol
We have been dying to go to Chifa - did you like it?

Katrina - i love El Vez as well but I would actually suggest El Camino Real over El Vez - not as expensive and just as good if not better - it is new and on Liberties Walk across from Bar Ferdinand. and El Azteca recently got their liquor license so i am not sure if you can bring your own tequila anymore sad.gif

Lucky Strike or North Bowl are GREAT ideas!

sooo maybe we are onto something here...

you guys could go to El Camino Real (mexican food, margaritas, great jukebox, fun atmosphere - then after dinner walk like 4 blocks south to North Bowl (you could reserve the area upstairs where they have 2 private bowling lanes and a lounge area next to the upstairs bar - it is nice and overlooks the whole downstairs!)

i have thought about that! if you are a mexican food junkie (like me too!) have you been to ...

La Esperanza Restaurant & Bar (in NJ)

Xochitl (Philly)

Lolita (Philly across from El Vez)

uh-oh i'm getting hungry!

and Katrina when you go to El Camino make sure to get the Nachos with Steak and Guac - they are off the hook!

Blkatz - i am PM'ing you :)

I know it sounds crazy, but I have a ton of gay friends, and you will never have a better time than going to the gay bars! Plus you don't have to worry about a bunch of lame guys chasing you all around all night. I don't specifically know which ones they go to, but can ask which are the best if you wanted to do that!

if my "best gay" was still alive i can guarantee we'd be out at the gay bars ... ALWAYS the best time. sadly, he passed about 2 years ago ... still can't believe he won't be at my wedding! sad.gif

on a happier note, thanks so much ladies for all the great suggestions. we were already looking at el vez (though might be pricey for some) and el azteca (we used to frequent the one in the northeast before it closed ... very yummy margaritas!). my MOH suggested possibly silk city afterward?

i had also thought about lucky strike (never been there, but sounds like fun), but never heard of north bowl ... gotta check that out too. those might be better options as i will likely have some older ladies (my two sisters are bridesmaids and they are 50 and 48!!!) mixed with 30-ish girls. actually, i'm not sure if my sisters would come out beyond dinner ... they might feel awkward.

it would be 20 girls if *everyone* came ... probably more like 10 of us in reality, lol.

oh and all you philly girls should check out this thread: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t36815. we still need to nail down a time, but we're doing a BDW meetup at chickie's and pete's in south philly on saturday, april 18th!

here are the links to North Bowl and El Camino Real

Welcome to North Bowl

El Camino Real

These two places are literally like 4 blocks apart - maybe a 3 minute walk - you might be able to get more carry-over from some of the ladies if you don't have to travel far to get to the 2nd place??

also as for Silk City - do you mean the diner part or the club part?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
