Lili asked me for my dinner choices last week... I'm keeping it really simple and having the three course menu (the 1st course in the 4 course one is soup and I just think soup in the hot weather sounds yucky...) with the caesar salad, green peppercorn filet and the tres leches cake. I figured that it's simple enough of a menu that even the pickiest eaters (like FI) will eat what they like. I'm on the fence about the tres leches cake though... what do you guys think for a dessert? Note that we decided to nix the wedding cake that's provided in the package- we're having an AMAZING one at the AHR and I've seen so many reviews where it goes to waste, so we decided to cancel it!
WOW! We are doing the EXACT same menu and cake...everything! Hilarious! I knew we were alike, but geez!!!LOL

That sounds SO nice! My best friend, and MOH, threw me a bachelorette over the Christmas holidays, when I was back home in Alberta. It was SO much fun!

We are having Hot Hors D'oeuvres (Chicken Chimichangas, Mahi Mahi Fingers, Chicken Satay, and Cheesey mushroom turnovers) during the cocktail hour. We are having the ceasar style salad, Green peppercorn beef medallions and the fruit tart for dessert. We ARE having the standard wedding cake, Tres Leches, and we've requested that once it is "cut", it be taken back to our room, where we will have everyone over the next day!

Ken and I actually did a test pack run this past weekend, and we were able to fit all of our wedding stuff (for AHR and Mexico) into our one large suitcase. I am so proud of this feat! cheesy.gif Now...if it weighs over 50lbs...We'll find out I guess!
It's just he and I departing from Montreal, so a lot of it, we're bringing ourselves. I pray my dress can be hung in 1st class...

We are using the basic table settings from the hotel, and I have purchased some different sized Starfish to be scattered all over. We are also purchasing Maracas, I have the tags made, and those will be at the settings, along with the starfish wine stoppers, and personalized bottle openers.

Tati, you do not have to pay for the upgraded dance floor. I just asked Veronica the other day, she got the light up floor for no additional charge and she just had the Ipod set up so it wasn't even a matter of getting it with a DJ. Just thought you should know in case you have your heart set on it like me!

I'm so excited for both of you! Geez, I have such a long wait! I would greatly appreciate it if you both would give me your input of which beach location would be best for my reception when you return. I would think by the pier would be too busy and too much public traffic.

V told me the same thing...but I have been told by my wedding coordinator that it is $500 to upgrade the standard white dance floor to the light up one! I'm expecting the white one, but hopeful that we too, will have a nice surprise!!

You have a wait, but...when I started planning this whole thing, I had exactly as much time as you do now....enjoy it! It FLIES by! Honestly...I don't know how the last year has passed us by...but it has!

I'll try to get as many photos as I can (I would anyway - picture whore here) to show you the different settings...but I'm sure another bride will beat me to it!

This is so crazy that we are all getting infomration that is so different. I wish they would get on the same page with their pricing. We have decided to cut out some things because of the pricing we were given by Zulma (which has been higher than what I have been seeing poseted from others)....I have been going back and forth with her this week because I leave in 5 days!. Even she gives me different pricing everytime I talk to her. I am so stressed right now. I wanted to do a Chuppa, but with the prices Zulma is giving me, we decided to cut it out....which really sucks cuz I don't really now that I like the standard set-up too much. She also is not sure if the minister is booked for the day now....since I started with Laura and got switched to Zulma everything has gone wack!

Sorry for the vent session...but I am really freaking out here! shots.gif

I would be freaking out too, but just keep in mind that everything can be figured out when you get there price and decor wise. So breath! Most of the brides have said that a lot of their decisions were last minute during their meeting there with Zulma. I would focus on making sure there really is a minister but otherwise everything will get worked out.

Now, just be excited! You leave in 5 days and we fully expect a report as soon as you return! wink.gif

I hear ya! Man, I hope everything comes together for you though. I'm feeling kinda the same way...since my "account" got moved to a new coordinator, I feel like...she doesn't know who I am, or remember (or check) what we discussed previously...and...I'm completely not convinced that all the things I am hoping for will actually...come to life.

But...I'm just trying to focus on the Mexican holiday I will get out of it...and marrying the man of my dreams....even if I end up doing that in the lobby bar! cheesy.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
