While I KNOW I can't "expect" people to come, it's still a sad thought. I am trying to contact people and share that air costs have recently dropped dramatically!! Unfortunately our airfare was booked when it was high....but since it's $200 cheaper per person right now I'm hoping it may help some who were "on the fence" to join us."

Hi! We have the same date booked! 8/1/09 at 3pm at the chapel. We're heaaring the same things...so far two couples have confirmed that they can't go...and only a very few poeple have booked...keep ur hope alive though, people tend to book late and either way, being married to the love of your life is the best part of this whole thing!

We have had the same experience, at the beginning when we decided on a DW everyone was going! When the economy took such a hit, so did our guest list, even though the flights are cheaper now, people are too afraid to let go of what money they have due to the uncertainly of things. So now we are down to 11 people and 2 of them are at risk due to family illness!! It is sad, but what can you do!!

Hi Girls,

I just have a few questions about the brides that have already gotten married there...

1. I heard that getting out of the airport can be a disaster, where did you get your transfers from....is it worth it just to take a cab?

2.Also which side of the resort would you recommend, Nizuc or Sunrise?and Why?

3. I have been on trip advisor and expedia everyday and it seems that there have been alot more complaints then good things. People complain all the time about how bad the beach is, is it really that bad?

4. Also I wanted to do some group tours that everyone would like. Which ones would you recommend? Which ones are day trips as oppose to just a couple hours?

5. I also heard that if you sit through the timeshare presentation that they reward you with spa packages and golfing...is this true? Did any of you sit through the presentation?

6. And lastly for the reception we are having only 20 people and we are having a seated dinner. I noticed that for most of the buffets and seated dinners you need a minimum of 40 people to have those meals. Our wedding cordinator basically said to pick on appetizer, main course and dessert....I think that that is pretty plain for spending $400.00 per table. Are there any brides that had a reception where they were under 40 people, what did you go with.

Sorry about all the questions but I looked through the whole list and didn't see much info on this...if you ladies could help me out that would be Fantastic!!!

Hello Ladies,

Jodimichelle: you were asking about flowers?

I had a beautiful real flower stargazers plus white roses bouquet. My bridesmaids bouquet was very similar just plain white lily's and red roses.

soccergurl3: I will try to answer some of your questions...

1. I heard that getting out of the airport can be a disaster, where did you get your transfers from....is it worth it just to take a cab?

we traveled with air canada vacations and they arranged travel for us. There was an aircanada representative waiting outside for us. My recommendation is walk through the airport. Ignore all the side booths, walk straight outside and look for your travel representative. who will be waiting for you directly outside the airport.

2.Also which side of the resort would you recommend, Nizuc or Sunrise?and Why?

Both sides are good. Its a large resort. So stay on the sunrise side if you want to be close to the disco and the main larger sunrise lobby. If you want to be close to the wedding gazebos then I would stay ont the Nizuc side. Our guests were all in Nizuc side. Quetzal building which had a great view of the ocean overlooking the tucan gazebo where we got married.

3. I have been on trip advisor and expedia everyday and it seems that there have been alot more complaints then good things. People complain all the time about how bad the beach is, is it really that bad?

The beach is not that bad. There is seaweed but they clean it up. I wouldn't worry about it. Here are some beach pictures. I think they turned out beautifully. We didn't get married on the beach. But I did see them setting up for one when we were down there and it looked nice.

4. Also I wanted to do some group tours that everyone would like. Which ones would you recommend? Which ones are day trips as oppose to just a couple hours?

We did chichen itza (all day trip) It was very interesting. but a very long day it leaves early in the morning and doesn't get back until 7 or 8. Bring water and snacks. It is definitely worth the trip. We also did paradise snorkling it is a day trip as well, but also worth it. Some of our guests did the Isla Majures trip it was an all day thing too. They enjoyed it. FOr an afternoon we took the shuttle bus into Cancun.

5. I also heard that if you sit through the timeshare presentation that they reward you with spa packages and golfing...is this true? Did any of you sit through the presentation?

we didn't sit through the presentation. We didn't think it was worth it.

we had the international hor dourves for the cocktail reception. And Spanish buffet for our private reception. The Spanish buffet says for minimum 40 people but we only had 28 guests. This was not a problem for us.

Hopefully this was helpful.

1. I heard that getting out of the airport can be a disaster, where did you get your transfers from....is it worth it just to take a cab?We had NO problems whatsoever, we got off the airplane, picked up our luggage and went straight outside to our van! Super Easy!

2.Also which side of the resort would you recommend, Nizuc or Sunrise?and Why?I know one of the sides is supposedly nicer, but really, we loved the whole place! IMO once you are there it doesn't seem as big as you think! We ran into people we knew from our group everywhere!

3. I have been on trip advisor and expedia everyday and it seems that there have been alot more complaints then good things. People complain all the time about how bad the beach is, is it really that bad?Remember that people are more likely to complain about something than praise it. Our guests all loved the Moon Palace, and my dad said it was the first vacation he had been on that he didn't want to go home AWWW!! Everyone is so accomodating and nice, and they truly go out of their way for you. Can't say enough wonderful things!!

4. Also I wanted to do some group tours that everyone would like. Which ones would you recommend? Which ones are day trips as oppose to just a couple hours? We had NO time for tours LOL! We were having too much fun doing other stuff!

5. I also heard that if you sit through the timeshare presentation that they reward you with spa packages and golfing...is this true? Did any of you sit through the presentation?I also have no idea about this.

6. And lastly for the reception we are having only 20 people and we are having a seated dinner. Are there any brides that had a reception where they were under 40 people, what did you go with.We had about 35 people I think, and used our free cocktail reception as the dinner. It worked perfect, I have lots of posts about it on here!

Hope this helps!! And Sarah, your pics are beautiful!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
