Traveling to Hawaii on the Cheap

Recommended Posts

Hello Future Hawaii Brides!

My sister just sent me this article from CNN about how the economy has affected the tourism in Hawaii! Well I don't know about all you gals out there but this is good news to me trying to stay w/in my budget! No harm in trying to shop around for the best deals and asking for a better price when booking your wedding in Hawaii and trying to get a few bonuses thrown in especially if you are bringing a good number of family and/or guests with you! (sorry that was a run-on!)

Happy reading!

Traveling to Hawaii on the cheap - CNN.com

I did a search and found it. Also want to throw in here that the deals really do seem to be great. For us, we booked most of our stay in Maui at the Marriott in Wailea and at the time there was a 24-hour 50% off deal going on! I've seen that deal once since then as well...it's only been appearing on Tuesdays so far, but wow, what a deal. We booked 2 nights at the 4 seasons in Wailea for a "treat" and although we planned for a mountain view room due to budget, we have a guaranteed upgrade of garden view. So maybe even better (crossing my fingers!). Our flights were very low priced as well. We were worrying about how much our actual honeymoon was going to cost but it's not as much of a concern anymore!

LOL...glad to hear it...would love to experience it! I havent so far. the hotels Im dealing with seem to have the attitude of "what recession?" I know the 4S is always $$$$ but, they are a bit soooo over the top on some things that we are just going to skip some items. I do know that tuesday booking saves money, and found that while booking flights for some family members.

another thing with travel booking...I had been searching for mileage tickets for some family members...everytime I checked United wanted 80,000 miles for LA to KOA. I just kept checking and then during the week (pretty sure it was tuesday), I checked and all of a sudden the same flights were available for 40,000 miles!

Ive not yet seen any "deals" in Hawaii. If you know of any, please let me know. OUr wedding is on the big island, but we would love to spend a few days on any island afterward. We did plan a great honeymoon...but just bought a new house last week (closing just before the wedding..hows that for exciting stress??) so we decided we needed to skip the honeymoon of our dreams for now. Since were in hawaii though...I'd love a week to just relax.

Alyssa,

I sent you a PM asking where you got your wedding flip flops. I cant find any with a high enough wedge.

I love your wedding! Beautiful in every way. What went in your guest bags and did you do them or have a compnay in hawaii do them? I'd love a referral for that.

Our wedding is at the Four Seasons on the big island. Our family and friends are staying at the Hilton waikola down the road...we are too, except that I will stay at the four seasons the night before the wedding. The Hilton was great with us as far as group rates etc. They gave us a suite for most of the stay and the preseidental suite for the last two nights at a great price. We couldnt get the four season to offer much of a rate to our group. I think they took $25 off published rates. So the Hilton gets our 30 plus rooms of business.

Im sure it will be great....but there have been some "slip ups" with the Four Season so its making me a bit uneasy. We choose them because of their service. They usually take all headaches out of any event or stay, but it hasnt been that way. Im sure it will all come together fine, but extra stress I didnt expect, or need as a bride from the four season.

You said your flight was pretty low priced... can you share how much? I initially wanted to do the wedding in Hawaii but flight/hotel prices would have scared all our guests away. I hope they keep coming down because I haven't booked anything yet!

Thanks for the article!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
