Moon Palace 2008 & 2009 Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

My contract is directly with the Moon Palace and it states that they only guarantee day passes for 20% of your guests. That is not to say that if there are passes available they won't sell them to you...but its a huge risk to take. How do you tell a guest that they can't come in when they have travelled all the way to Cancun?

I thought the day pass thing was that they wouldn't sell them to over 20% of your total wedding attendance...that's what is outlined in my contract with them. I don't see anything about it being in reference to the total resort capacity! Yipes!

Nibs- Thats the way I understood ours, too... and I'm actually freaking out a little bit because within the last couple of weeks, two people told me that they would be coming, but were going to stay off grounds. Aside from FI and I, we've only got 9 people (including 3 kids) attending as MP guests.

Hola Ladies,

Menu Private Function

No we did not have a tasting - actually never even thought of it, nor was it really offered. Truly it is not necessary - all of the resort food is amazing you will not be disappointed!

We had a private dinner and we did print menu cards - it was a nice touch. I had them printed in English and Spanish - also a nice touch. Embrass the culture and incorporate it into your wedding.

I did add additional items to both of our menus - please see my menu email below that I sent ahead of time to my WC.

Note we had two menus - as we held a private cocktail reception and private dinner function.

Crap. So, if they do enforce this whole 20% thing, this could be bad for me!

Last night, I had two more people RSVP that they are staying at a different hotel, which brings me up to a total of six. I have a total wedding attendance of 22 - including Matt and I and the six staying off the resort. Has any one had experience with this? Do they really count the 20% thing?

Does it matter that two of them are practically babies and probably don't need daypasseshuh.gif? Now I'm freaking out a bit.

Thanks a lot- this is really helpful because I would also like to subsitute a few items due to food allergies...initially I was going to have everything on the menu stay put and just stay clear of stuff that I can't have, but I can only imagine someone eating shrimp and then coming up to give me a congratulatory hug/kiss and then spending the night in the ER!

How far in advance were you able to make these requests- did you do it through your onsite WC or one of the Miami ladies?

I think you should be fine because kids 4 and under are free so I don't see how they can count them towards your 20% total...Do you think that the other RSVPs that you'll get will be people staying off property?

We went with the Mexican Hordourves (I have no idea how to spell that word LOL) and it was DELICIOUS!! We just had the cocktail party - no sit-down dinner - and it was amazing.

Also another route to go w/ the day pass thing is to see if your guests would want to stay at another "Palace Resort" in Cancun. I believe if you are staying at one, you can go to any of the others for free....at least that's how it was when we were there last year. And some of them are cheaper.....something worth checking into at least.

another idea would be us! :) I don't know if you caught that we are wedding photographers too...but after we get married in august we are going to be marketing ourselves much more toward destination weddings...

we recently saw that another photographer posted an offer to the BDW brides to shoot a number of destination weddings for free with expenses covered...so we might do something like this...i don't know if other brides would be excited for something like this, but if we didn't have friends in the industry, it would be a dream come true for me! photography is just too important to me to not make sure that we have great pictures that tell our story and we love forever...also aric and i have been talking about how we can best give back to the BDW brides, so the thought of doing something like this came up, and we know we'd get some beautiful pics out of it...but i don't know i guess we will see...

for us photography was obviously the first priority, and unfortunately, we also felt the pain of trying to find a good photographer to document our destination wedding...most "good" ones that are marketing themselves for destination weddings are too expensive and we have read some resort photographers are leaving many couples with a wish that they had hired someone else...thus we were really worried when we started planning our wedding... we were lucky because we have friends in the industry that are willing to help in the situation but not all couples have someone like that...

anyway, we will see...but let us know if we can help you ourselves or maybe help you find someone :)

--->what is everyone doing for flowers? is anyone doing something other than the onsite flowers?? this is driving me crazy!!
Do you have pics? lisa.wieland@abbott.com love to see them

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
