I did mine a couple years ago. I used Ralph Lauren on the walls--- base layer in a dark chocolate brown and sponged a milk chocolate on top. Then I made some stencils and did those on the wall: half the stencil was gold and the other half a grape shade of purple. I bought a cream comforter from JC Penney and hand painted leaves in red, brown, gold and black. I stenciled a pattern on a green bedskirt in gold. Then I stenciled the same pattern onto the sides of my nightstands and what reminds me of a Lion's head on the front of the nightstands. I bought cloth roller blinds in a cream shade and stenciled on them with a dark red.

I know, sounds insane, but it wound up looking really good- kind of a Middle Eastern thing--- and even tho it probably makes no sense whatsoever, it was a therapeutic project I tackled the weekend I flew back home after my mom had her aneursym...

OMG decorating in my passion. I actually went to school for it, but stopped because I hate customer service and I thought people would get on my nerves.. lol.. So I do it for fun. Why not post a picture of your room so that we can give you some ideas.

BTW, visit HGTV's website, they have a ton of great ideas

I agree with the post the picture comment.

I have redone four rooms in the last year. What I like to do is go and look at Martha Stewart paint samples. They have paint chips with four colors that go well together. I get all of my inspiration from those. From paint to accessories.

My best advise I can give, is if you really like one thing in your room, IE picture or something. pull colors out of it and work your room around it. If you don't have that "something" look for it, maybe it will be a colorful quilt for your bed, a picture or a piece of art. Just something to give you insiration.

ROFL.. well the first thing I would go if I were you is look for one thing that you LOVE, maybe its a pillow for the bed or something. And then post a picture of that as well. What is your favorite color? Do you have a style? (ie modern, contemp, etc)

I need to dig. The sad thing is that I never even got to sleep in that room (it was a guest room that I planned on making the master bedroom) after I finished it because I got laid off, sold the house and moved to Dallas for a new job. It was literally just a few days after I finished the project when I lost my job. Then I was gone for months taking care of my mom and then staying down here to job hunt.

I have a hodge-podge of pictures of different aspects of the room, but I don't have one complete picture of the room as a whole. I have one picture from the old house of the walls, but the furniture wasn't moved into the room yet and the room is seriously cluttered because it was the "landing pad" for everything while I was packing. I still have the nightstands in one of my current bedrooms that I can take pictures of---- but the bedspread and bedskirt, as well as the pillows I painted were eaten by my neurotic dog and we threw them away with the last move we did about 9 months ago (*sigh*).... So I don't think I have pictures of those items anymore.

Tammy you may think I' crazy but I don't know what the diff between modern and contemperary is. HAHAHA I went on the HGTV site and most of the rooms I liked were contemp, so I guess i lke that sense of style.

I'm thinking greens, like a light pale sage green. Then getting a khaki colored duvet cover. I like the pillows idea. I'm a big art fan too. I'm leaving all my art at my parents house. No way I could ship it. We have a bathroom off the bedroom too and I already sent Jard all my chocolate and Tan towels. So nice. Do you usually paint the bedroom the same as the bathroom?

Oh and Jared wanted to do a cranberry wall and the rest a mustard yellow. I do't know about that though... not very relaxing with those colors. What do u think?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
