Paradisus Riviera Brides - POST HERE!

Thanks for the answers ladies. I'll definitely check with Perla about reserving the tequila terrace (which is what I meant by room/beach bar) I wasn't sure what that was called.

Mark and I are going down the week before everyone arrives for our 'honeymoon' first... LOL... so I'm hoping to get a lot accomplished that week too. But after reading all this, I've got a lot of info jotted down with tons of questions for Perla, so I'll be emailing her about it all in a couple days.

I'm looking forward to your wording on the sand ceremony.

Which ceremony did you all choose? We're doing the legal ceremony and I was curious about the length of the ceremony and if it's okay that we do our own vows and perhaps have a friend read one of her writings (basically like a religious reading except not from a scripture or anything)?

I know I've said this before, but thank you, thank you, thank you... you have been helping more than you could ever know!

CDN Groom, we'll be going quite low key for our ceremony... I'm definitely finding it quite overwhelming, but with all the information on here, it's definitely eased a lot of stress. It's nice to hear that other people are keeping things simple too!! :)

Thanks for the bouquet info - really helpful. I'm going to get the flowers from Paradisus instead of bringing them down. This means I have to sell the flowers I already ordered, oh well :)

Our sunset time is 7:20. Our ceremony starts at 5:30 and our photographer said that works out perfectly. We are doing "first look" pics which starts at 4:00, I think.

CDNgroom, where are you having your ceremony and reception? I bet it's awesome!

Question about meal for the photog: Do I sign them up for the buffet/plated meal or can they order a la carte from the restaurant?

My dress is not poofy and simple (no beading/lace to worry about), so I'm going to wrap it in tissue and put it in a rolling carry-on bag. It will have to be steamed anyway, so I figured it was okay to fold it up. However, I am worried about giving it to someone for steaming at the resort though. Talk about pre-separation anxiety! Did any of you brides feel like this? What was the process of getting it steamed like?

Speaking of dress... *my first fitting is this Saturday* Oh, I am so elated! :) It is the perfect catalyst for completing wedding projects!

Hey Julie, just a tip, when I emailed Perla I found it much easier to write one long email with all of my questions listed together and sometimes numbered, rather than a bunch of short emails with one or two questions in them. It may take her a little time to get back to you, but then atleast you know she got all of the questions and she will answer them.

I'm actually a little jealous of everyone who is still planning. I want to do it again!

I have to agree. One long e-mail with all the items numbered is the easiest way to go. She would respond to us with her answers in the text of the original e-mail.

And Kelly - I'm with you on wanting to do it again. We've been talking about a "reunion tour" since before the actual day of the wedding!

CDNGroom - such a well said post above - sometimes, while I loved this forum during the planning process, it gave me more stress to see what everyone else was doing. For me, the response time was actually pretty good, usuallly only a few days .. so it wasn't too bad.

We did the legal ceremony and wrote our own vows. We also did the sand ceremony which we wrote. Both of these are attached. I also put together a "wedding day timeline" which I have attached as well.

Instead of a bouquet toss, I decided to dedicate my bouquet to my grandma - yes at 77 years old she and my grampie travelled to MExico with us. I have also attached that for anyone else who is interested!

Missy,

thanks for sharing your sand ceremony wording, there is definitely a few lines in there that I'd like to use, they say forgery is a form of flattery... is this alright??. I've been able to read your vows as well, which were very very nice!! I don't have enough points to open the others, so once I have enough, I'll check them out!!!

Kelly,

i'm so glad you reminded me about that. the correspondence Perla and I had had in the past had only been a few, however, I did send one to her with numbered questions and she indeed wrote back with answers to all of them in the original text only her answers were in a different font colour.... it's all coming back to me... slowly...

so thank you for that! i appreciate all the advice!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
