when to do our sand ceremony?

Recommended Posts

Hi All!

Our wedding is one week today (nothing like leaving it to the last minute, huh?)

I am trying to determine where the sand ceremony fits in... we are including my guy's son in the sand ceremony (if that makes any difference)...

The ceremony I have has us doing the vows, then there is a reading then the rings. The officiant speaks some more then announces us husband and wife.

Does the sand ceremony occur after the exchange of rings?

Thanks a bunch!!

Jenn

foxytv- was your ceremony a legal one? I am being told that we can only do the sand ceremony after we are married by my WC. She said the legal ceremonies can't be changed but the symbolic ones can be.

I just want to get your opinion if it's worth adding this at the end. I think it's a very symbolic part of the ceremony and I want to do it- but only if it flows right and doesn't look funky! Thoughts? Thanks a million :)

hmmm i should find out about this ... my WC said we could add a sand ceremony to the legal ceremony, but she didn't mention *when* i could do it. might seem weird if it's after we're already husband and wife, ya know?

Our ceremony was a symbolic (did the legal-ese before we left for our DW). The sand ceremony wasn't part of our ceremony at all. We did a Hand Ceremony as part of the actual ceremony, though, which was read by my uncle. Didn't want too much during the ceremony, so that's why we saved the sand ceremony for the reception. We think it was perfect just before the cake cutting. Worked for us (and we didn't do a reading with it - just poured the sand while people were gathering for the cake cutting).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
