How do you clean Uggs?

Has anyone ever washed their Ugg boots in the washing machine? I need to clean mine, the sheepskin is dirty and this website said you can put them in the washing machine with Woolite but I'm a little nervous to try it.

Cleaning Uggs - Clean Sheepskin

It says:

Cleaning Sheepskin: Washing UGGs With Woolite in a Washing Machine

If you don't mind the color fading a little off your UGGs, you can wash them in a washing machine. Use very cold water and a few tee shirts so they don't knock around and also act like scrubbers, and put your washing machine on a light-duty cycle for 10-15 minutes. Add Woolite. Do NOT use any other soap.

Pull out the boots at the end of the cycle and if needed, do a soft hand scrub with a little more Woolite with an old toothbrush or nail brush on the surface of the sheepskin swede where there may be some stains or dirt encrusted.

Place back in the wash machine and rinse and spin-dry.

When you pull out your Uggs, put soda bottles into the shaft to keep the damp boots upright and let them dry in a warm place. Check from time to time so the leather isn't puckering. If it is, gently push and tug to keep the look of the boot.

Ensure equal drying by making the boot is equally wet so there is no water line.

After they are dry you'll want to brush the suede with a soft brush to get the pile up and soften up the looks of the outer surface. Remember to re-apply the waterproofing spray.

Using cold water keeps the fading at a minimum due to washing and from using Woolite. Uggs will stretch with wear. A good fitting pair should fit snug and not too tight.

Has anyone tried this?

Ladies..do NOT..I repead, do NOT throw your beloved uggs in the washing machine.

Believe me, its the death penalty for your shoes.. And I know, because when mine were totaly dirty, and wanted to clean mine, my dear hubby told me to just put them on a short program in the washmachine,,and I did... I wanted to cry after my uggs came out, the werent soft anymore but rock hard, and the color had faded. And the werent even clean...

I recommend to buy the special cleaning stuff the uggs store provides, and keep them as clean as possible..and when they get dirty,,well,, its time to buy new ones...

So I did it! I took before and after pics. They are still drying. Once they are dry I will post the pics. I don't think it was too bad. The backs of mine are VERY dirty from wearing them in the snow w/ dark pants. I did it late last night. So the backs are still a bit dirty. I don't have a cycle that is only 10-15 minutes, so I did our quickwash which was 33 minutes, and i think the tshirts actually really help.

Although, I have the minis and i don't fold them down. If you fold yours down at all I wouldn't do it. The inside fur kind of clumps together a little and doesn't look right folded. I will post pics of it. I actually think they may be as soft, if not softer, on the inside then when I got them!

Have you tried this method? Did you use regular or any detergent? I read a bit before I decided to be a guinea pig, but woolite is the ONLY detergent you should put in w/ your uggs!!! And did you put them in the dryer?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
