Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the dinner at Spoon is semi-private. Meaning that you are eating with the rest of the hotel guests but your own group is sitting together, so dancing is probably not an option.
At Zocalo, you are on a concrete patio. You you technically don't need a dance floor, unless you want a special one the lights up or something.

Well, when I told Tiffany I was upset and asked for her supervisors info, she gave me Fabio's information. So that will get me nowhere. Good luck to you :) I'm sure you'll be getting an email soon for money. I just am holding stock in all the positive reviews about the on-site coordinators.

So I am trying to upload some pictures for you but they are all in .jpg format and therefore are not able to be attached. I don't know much about computers. Could some one help me out? I know this same question has been asked before on this thread but I've been searching for the past 20min and can not find the answer. Thanks in Advance!

Oh, and about the whole final payment thing. We didn't pay for anything until the day of our meeting with the wedding coordinators. I did not even know our final bill until then. I emailed Fabio several times about a week before we left to get my final quote and didn't hear back from him at all. We had a very small wedding so we had an idea of what to expect but I still think this is ridiculous and very unprofessional.
Can't wait to see your pics!!! I wish I could help, maybe if you post them on picasa or kodak gallery and paste a link??

I agree about the unprofessionalism. argh.

Does anyone know how the resort sets up the tables for the private receptions (dinner). I am trying to figure out how many people can sit per table. This way I know how many lanterns I will need.

Thanks everyone.
Asianideas.com has a big selection for cheap, all colors and sizes. And my mom bought some from Hobby Lobby. 8 people per table and I have the dimensions of about 73 inches around (it was given to me in 1.98 meters)

So my TA said she was advised we should get everyone in our group to book now before the time deadline on the rate quote I got runs out or we could be quoted new rates upwards of $300 more per person!

Just thought I'd warn anyone out there that could be in the same boat as me. I'm lucky enough to have a 3 week deadline so I have time to get after my guests!

Good news is apparently Signature is doing their "Price Guarantee" again for the winter season...this is a big reason why I wanted to book with Signature...for my departure in November, if on September 15th the prices have dropped to below what my group rates are, Signature will do a one-time price match and match the lowest rates for my entire group! This is so handy with getting people to book early...you can explain to them that they won't get shafted by sales later on!

Hi Beachbride2009, would you mind forwarding me your agent's info? We have some guests flying from Calgary but don't know which agent is good there. Thank you :)

THought I would reply to some of the questins I have seen. I am not married yet but my fiance and I went for a site visit. I have a previous enrty outlining our visit.

Spoons is the largest open buffet style restaurant thay have on site. They corner off an area for you to have you guests all eat together. I do not believe that it is possible to have a dance floor. THere is also a raised area in spoons that can accomodate up to 20 or so people so you could have that area if your party is that small. Again I do not think a dance foor is feasible there.

When I met with the wedding coordinators they seem very throrough. THis is ALL they do so they are available and want to help you.

I think what I will do is put my pictures on snapfish and put the link on this site becasue I have pics of all these places. WIll try to do this tonight.

As far as payment goes the wedding corrdinators told me that they do not handle anything with regards to the finances and the offsite prople handle that. I find the offsite people to be a little disorganized. I have not even booked my date yet becasue they have not gotten back to me!!!

Hi Ladies!

I am new to this! I see a lot of discussion surrounding music, I am also brining my own IPod (and hopefully a station), do you guys think I will need additional speakers? Has anyone needed additional speakers, my Bosse speakers within the docking station are really good, but with the open space, I am hesitant on how it will work out?

PLEASE HELP!

M

Thank you so much for the information on the lanterns. Have you thought about the wind and how you would anchor them down if needed?

Ok good, that's what I thought @ Zocolo but does anyone know if we're able to have music there? I have no idea how it's set up but it seems like it would be impossible to have a music setup for my iPod docking station... I could be wrong.

Jo'Zeen answers my emails quickly but with one sentence that inspires 8 more questions... I'm not getting anywhere with her!

Has anyone taken or planned a site visit and negotiated discounted rates or other perks with the hotel? I find it absolutely ridiculous that, in this economy, bringing a ton of guests for a wedding and spending extra money for private events deserves no discount on a site visit (not to mention a "food tasting" charge!?!?!?).

You can have music and dancing on the patio of Zocalo. The inside of the restaurant will still be used by hotel guests.
Here are some pics I took on my site visit.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
