Hello ladies!!

I've been having a problem getting on the site lately!

2 Days before our wedding, I saw a reception setup infront of the gazebo. There were 7 tables, and a hard wooden dance floor. So, that's what I was expecting. But.....

As for the light up dance floor: I had no idea that it was an option, and therefore did not ask for it. The night before our wedding, we saw it in another garden wedding reception. I was really wanting it, but we decided that we didn't want to tack on more money to the wedding. We were pleasantly surprised to walk into our reception and have it. Our wedding was 32 people, and we were given 6 blocks (2x3). I have to admit it wasn't big enough for all of us, but (luckily) not everyone was into dancing. Micaela asked us afterwards how we liked it - of course we loved it!! She said "It was a surprise that she had arranged for us". We did have the resort DJ hired. There were 3 other receptions the same night as ours, and one other wedding reception had the lighted floor as well. PS - Specify exactly where you want your reception - I didn't, and we didnt' get right in front of the pool (instead infront of the gazebo - which was just as nice).

I would love to finally post our pics, but we still don't have them!!!! We hired the resort photographer & videographer, but with getting married 2 weeks before Christmas, we didn't start any of the proof picking until well into January. We are hoping to have them in 2 weeks. But we have seen all the proofs and they are amazing!! I would recommend the photographer in a heart beat!!

Anything can be changed when you meet with your wedding coordinator. When we met with Micaela, we ended up changing/picking most of our wedding. Even the time of day (from 4pm to 1pm - which I would suggest.)

By having the wedding at 1pm, champagne at 1:30-2. Then pictures with everyone till about 3. Then we took pictures on our own for the next 2 hours. We met everyone back at 5, which eliminated the need for a "cocktail hour" with appys, as we went straight into the (delicious) dinner.

I hope this helps you gals out!!!

PS - For those of you wanting to legally married - we had our Birth Certificates apostilled but not translated and they were accepted. I have the legal wedding words if anyone hasn't read them. We were all surprised at how touching the Mexican legal ceremony is; and we loved the thumb print part!

Quick question if you don't mind...how much was the DJ? For a group of 13...would you recommend having a DJ .. or is this just plain overkill?

For our beach reception (that is all I have specified)...should I be more specific with the WC about WHERE I want it? Can you recommend something? I was thinking just down towards the waters edge...maybe more to the left (Cancun) side of the property line?

Okay...and...I'm posting a picture like I promised! Keep in mind...it was just a rendition of what I had been looking for. Thank you girls who helped me find the actual thing!! LOL

Wow that is a great diagram!

I actually just got a response from Zulma saying that we can do a legal ceremony in our room prior to pictures so that we can change the ceremony however we would like. I didn't think it would be a problem but still wanted to be sure.

Now I need to read through all these posts to find out all the rules to getting legally married while we are in Mexico. Thank goodness we have booked our trip 4 days in advance and have friends coming down that early as well!

I will look into Claudia for our video. She actually was very kind and e-mailed me back saying that she wasn't available but that she had others who were. I will also post my photos when I return and for those of you who are interested I will pass along my photographers information. He is coming along with us and photographing the whole weekend which is great. It costs a lot to fly him and put him up but its worth it with all the extra time he is going to put in!

Shay- LOL that is a very cute picture! I am laughing because its more creative than I would have done!

I just got an email forwarded from my TA that Angie at villa world sent:

"There can be no firm times yet for next year. The judge’s schedules are not yet open for bookings that far away. We can however put them on the schedule for the preferred date and time and we will submit it as soon as it is possible and they have a 98% chance as it stands of getting what they request. I cannot gaurentee yet the price freeze on the extras. I will get back to you on that tomorrow when I can get into my e-mails again. We already have the 2010 rates for the wedding packages. When she wants to pick a wedding package and date we can send a confirmation."

I don't understand why I can't have 2009 prices? Everyone else seems to be getting pricing that is current for when they book, why do I have to have next years prices? I am soo freaking pissed off right now! This all seems like a bunch of BS to me!

My TA says she will call the resort directly tomorrow and that she would work with Angie anymore....

My FI is looking at me like I am this crazy emotional woman! But hopefully you girls understand! I just want to set my freaking date and have the current price that everyone gets to lock in at! I never thought setting the date would be this hard! I knew communiation was lacking for everything else but I figured I could at least get the date!!

Sorry, thank you for letting me vent!

Steph

Does anyone have their dates locked in that far away? I will have to look back at Shay's chain a few days ago to see when the latest one booked so far is. Maybe its standard? I don't know myself because I didn't want a long engagement and got engaged in October and started contacting the hotel in November which was only a 6 month engagement and most of May was already booked up. Maybe its because its just so far away, 17 months is long for the resorts down there so maybe they only work like 1 year out? I don't know but I sure hope that your TA is able to figure out the rules so that you can rest assured that you can get your preferred date! I am sure all of us understand your frustration! Let us know once you get an answer back!

OMG- Did you guys get the email from Micaela that she's leaving the hotel?!?!?

"Zulma, Michelle or Lili will be contacting you in the next 24 to 48 hours." Who is Lili?!?!?!?

Now I'm worried! Make sure you've kept all of your correspondance from Micala, guys!

By the way, I LOVE your diagram, Shay! The little bride and groom are TOO cute!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
