Thanks!!

We recommended a travel agent on our invites which most of our guests have used. There is at least one guest who chose to use their own travel agent and then we have a couple guests who have returned their RSVP but have not yet booked, so I am not sure if they are going to go through our recommended travel agent or not.

We have a block of 10 rooms but tomorrow is our final day where we can release the rooms without penalty. We've got 6 of the 10 booked which means that we would need 4 more to book and I think its just too risky to hold these rooms because if we hold them and they don't book, then we will be penalized. So, we've opted to release the rooms but the flip side to this is that we will now have to pay for the cocktail hour which will be $400-600. Its unfortunate but there is nothing that we can do about it.

My WC sent me a 'wedding rooming listing' spreadsheet which she has asked me to fill out with all the guests booking information and send it back to her. I guess this is how they track the guests that are part of your group when you don't have a group contract.

I think we need a Moon Palace Economic Stimulus Plan. :)

When I saw your post, I got a little worried...so I checked Orbitz for package deals, and it looks like it's about the same price in the long run. A double is a little cheaper on Orbitz it looks like, but you don't get all the free perks that we have in our contract, like free excursions and airport transfers, etc etc.

We really haven't said anything or given any information about booking in a different way or at a different hotel. If anyone does, it will be because they do it without us knowing, which I hope wouldn't happen. I think pretty soon, within the next month or so, we will start calling people and asking if they have any questions personally, so hopefully that will help head off any of that as well.

Good luck!!
What/how is Tammy Host and would you mind sending me her contact info? I am currently working with a TA, but obviously we haven't done much yet because I haven't even decided on a resort yet!! AHHHH...so confused!

Emaya - The MP was pretty much our first and only choice, but I know some people go with other Palace resorts because they are a little cheaper, and really, some people don't like huge resorts! Tammy Host is the administrator of this forum - you can contact her by clicking on the TA banner at the top of just about every screen.

LeBlanc - so jealous. We booked our flights awhile ago for 500 each. They are non stop and out of Chicago though. Chicago is always so expensive. We definitely put our TAs info on our invitations, and on our website. We really are not offering our guests any other choices, so anything they do differently will be what they come up with on their own. Hopefully no one will. We'll see!!

LeBlanc - I did boarding pass invitations, so on the last page, I had information about booking flights, and then I put the TA information on there as well. We had three pages total, the first was the cutsie one, the second had a little letter and where to RSVP to, and the third had all the travel information. It's also on our website!

We did something similar but had a mix of a boarding pass invitation with a luggage tag on top.

We didn't give our guests any other options for hotels. We put the basic information on the invitations with our names, date, and Moon Palace, our TAs information and the deadline date which was in December. I didn't do any RSVPs because I was really talking it up to everyone and pushing the December Deadline. Our TA was able to work our package with a deposit down and the remainder to be paid by April (she will also take monthly payments if the people were interested in doing so) and this gave us a semi-headcount for the wedding.

Our double rate is $380 but we also signed our contract back in October. It could be better now.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
