ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Hello again!

You don´t have to pay complete for the services(Ceremony, reception), you can pay directly when you arrive at the hotel and meets with the wedding coordinator (Zulma or Micaela - Royal In Playa).

I recommend you, confirm the wedding date and send a partial payment in order to hold the date.

You can pay at the hotel with credit card, cash or traveller checks.

If you have any issue with the payment send it by wire transfers or check you can call at the collections department (52 + 998 8815500 ext. 5611) ask for Lisie or Russell they will help you.

Best regards!

Wow, compared to you ladies, I feel like a slacker!! I've been out of the loop for a while... Just over 5 months to go for me and I haven't even tried on a dress!! :)

Just lask week though, I did hire a Dj through Patty for our reception. The company's name is Doremixx

As far as deposits are concerned for us (from what I have read, it looks like it's different for everyone), we have already paid for 25% of the estimated cost via credit card back in November. Another 25% is due in May and the remainder will be paid in June. I'm asuming any additional charges and add-ons will be handled at the resort after the wedding.

Patty also sent us the cake options at my request. My sister (who is a stay at home mom but sort of has a side busiess of making fabulous cakes) didn't like the options that are included in the package!! I didn't think they were too bad but weren't really what I had in mind... Have you ladies decided what you want to do for your cake?? I thought of maybe just ordering a plain white square fondant cake and getting a really pretty cake topper and maybe putting a ribbon around the bottom or something...

We haven't ordered invitations yet either... Any suggestions on affordable but pretty invitations?? I'm lazy so I'm not really a DIY bride... wink.gif

I want to send out my invites as soon as possible to get people thinking and planning their savings. Should I just contact Zulma and reserve the date (I am thinking mid January 2010 sometime) and then worry about the travel arrangements after?

Hola!

First to all congratulations!

Travel arrangements:

The hotel will give the rates fto the travel agents at the end of May 2008, but you can contact to Air Canada Vacations ask for Lana Gharib, she will get you rooms and the best rate available for those dates.

Jentwo I love all the little items that you used for your OOT bag and i even saved your templates for the broading passes. Also, about the dance floor we got it ordered thru our Dj Mannia. The Royal didn't provide me with the list of preferred vendors. I wonder if i could've gotten the floor for free with the Royalhuh.gif? Does anyone here have this list? THANK YOU again for sharing your stories with us!!! smile159.gif

After reading your reviews I dont know what to do about the ceremony. I was planning on having the ceremony at the beach but I dont want people in their bathing suits in the background. I dont know what to do.

Shay... can you please email me the picture of the cake too. I will PM you my email address. Also, with the chuppah. I know that they have a wooden bamboo chuppah that is avaliable. Do you think that they will have fabric for it? I was thinking that I would need to buy my ownhuh.gif I will also be there in May and have my ceremony time as 5:30. I dont know if thats too late... hmmmm. Also, I believe that you are Jewish if you are having a chuppah (might be wrong). If you are what ceremony option did you choose? Also, are you have a rabbi come there?

I also wanted to ask you ladies about the menu options. Do i have to choose the same menu for everyone or do I choose my three top options and then my guests can choose when they get therehuh.gif Zulma did not make that point really clear to me.

Ladies, I have realized one thing. If you need to get an answer from Zulma you need to demand it. I tried being nice thru my emails and got nothing back. I told my TA agent about it and she wrote her. She told her that she needs a response asap and understands that she is busy but she needs to focus on all her clients. We got a response within a couple of hours!!! So far the only thing that I have confirmed is the date, time, and locations for the events.

VeronicaLane, if you would like PM me your email address and I will email you a list of attachments that Zulma sent out in November. It has menus, flower options, FAQ's, and a lot more information.

Sorry for the extra long post....Hope I didnt put everyone to sleep.

Hello Marianna!

About the dance floor, the hotel usually provide a regular dance foor for reception (about 30 people) if you have more than 40 people attending your reception they will provide you a lighted dance floor for free, the hotel rent me a dance floor for each reception wedding at Real Resorts, and you don´t pay nothing for this dance floor (see http://doremixx.com/ or hi5 - doremixx's Photos)

If you needs a song list only go to my web page check my e-mail and I will provide you the song list.

The huppa, they build their own huppa (I don´t know if there is a extra fee)

Menu: your selection will be the same for everyone, they can do an exception for allergic or vegetarian people (at las 5 people with different menu)

Best regards and good luck

The document I received from Micaela back in September or whatever, said, regardless of when your wedding was booked, their new policy was that ALL future brides from that moment on, were OBLIGATED to pay a $300USD deposit before December 31, 2008 in order to hold their wedding date, and continue communication with their coordinators. I went to the bank right away, and did the wire transfer, which cost me $30 additional bucks, plus the exchange rate then was even worse, so the $300USD turned into $419 Canadian.

It would be a little frustrating if I could have saved my self some money by paying for everything when I get to the hotel...but at this point, I'm not going to dwell on it. At least I know they have my money and are definitely holding the date...it just would be nice if their correspondence to everyone was at least...similar!

Anyways...my .02!

Do you know the cost of having the light up dance floor to the customer? I was under the impression this was their new "Standard" dance floor...so now I want to know how much extra this will cost too...

That is interesting. I wasn't "asked" to pay either. I emailed to find out more about the deposit (thanks to our thread that I even found out about it!) and was informed that I needed to pay. I was even having some financial difficulties around the beginning of December (I broke my leg in an exercising accident- not sure if I told you girls or not- but emergency room, surgery, physical therapy, etc was hitting the wedding budget HARD) and I was told that I needed to find a way to pay before the 31st or we would lose our date.

I totally don't mind that we paid it- I'm happy that our date is secure, but I agree that it'd be nice to know that the story stays consistent!

Don't get me wrong, I love the Royal and know that I made the right decision!

I'm completely with you on this one. I LOVE the Royal...and am super happy we chose it, and I love working with Micaela, when she has the time, I know it is going to be great...

I agree though..it would just be nice if all the coordinators were on the page, as...the miscommunications...as proven with this prime example...can really make or break the day!

Does anyone know the dimensions of the gazebo...weird question, yes...but...I'm thinking of buying those icicle mini lights for the roof inside...and was wondering how many I would need?

Also...in May...what time does the sun usually set...and what time does it become...less bright out? Our ceremony is at 5 and I'm wondering...would mini lights even show up?...like would you even be able to tell if they were on?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
