Oh there are loads of things that you can do. For mine, I had about 10 girlfriends (mostly the wedding party, plus a few), get together at my parents house. And we hired a bellydancer to come out and give us lessons. I think it was really fun and I think everyone enjoyed themselves. And you can't forget the chocolate martinis.

I have also heard of people doing that, but with stripper lessons. It's gotta be fun.

Others that I have been on were more low-key, like just dinner out with all the girls.

Or, rent a bus and fill it with as many people as possible and go out and get rowdy drunk.

It all depends on what you like to do. Some other things that I considered (cuz I DID NOT want to dress up with a sash and tiara!) were pottery lessons, were each person would decorate a dish to make up my "china". And I forget what the other one was, but something similar and low-key.

Good idea about the slumber party, Heather. That's the one thing I miss about my childhood years. Or are you talking about a "slumber party" which is the sex toy party? Those can be kind of fun if you like that kind of thing.

One of my girlfriends' went on a little road trip to a neighboring casino town. We got a hotel and partied it up there. That way there's no drinking and driving and we had a little slumber party there. We also brought sexy lingerie.

I was talking about just the usual good old innocent slumber party :)

I think for mine I'm hoping to do a cottage weekend with a bunch of girls. It'll be like a 2-night slumber party where we can go to the beach during the day and eat yummy food and have fun at night!

I'm doing the slumber party thing too! Were making it a "girls night in" and having drinks and games. It is definitely a low budget party - I didnt want my girls spending more money when they are already paying to come to the wedidng! A few ideas -

Have games that arent "traditional". No one is making a toilet paper wedding dress, but we will have a Sex and the City trivia game with good prizes (we all love that show).

Rather than having a lingerie shower, we are having a game where everyone gets 5 $1 bills when they get to the party. Each dollar counts as a vote, and the guests can contribute as much as they want over the $5 we give them (the invitations say something like "no gifts, but bring some small bills for a fun game"). There will be 3 or 4 lingerie outfits (ones you wouldnt normally buy) and the girls get to vote on which they like the best by putting their dollars into the corresponding jars. Whichever outfit gets the most votes (dollars) is the one I have to buy. The outfits are going to be like a sexy maid or something - dress up outfits that are kinda silly but still fun. All the extra votes/money has to be used on other honeymoon lingerie as well - but it can be regular teddies and such. We are doing this so no one has to feel bad if they cant afford to by a gift. They can still play and whoever can afford extra "votes" can contribute money without feeling they are just giving me an envelope of money.

For my friends party that I'm throwing, we are going to a drag show. If you've never been, they are a party and so much fun :)

But I agree - do something you like doing!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
