i know the fee is a bummer, what about the price of bottles of champagne or even corkage fee! but hey they have to make money somehow since they are not charging us for the space. I first freaked out about the alcohol open bar fee $13 per person per hour...

what bothers me is that they don't offer a lot of variety of vendors, only one florist, one bakery, one guitar player...

i went there last month to check out the place and hotels but i feel like i have to go back for more details such as doing some test with the hairdresser (jackies recommend) and makeup, flower, musician.

has anyone gone more than once and what is your suggestion about makeup and hair?

Debbie, you were asking about hotels and transportation...i only know Tulum hotels, they range from rustic to high end, starting with ANa y jose hotel, the nicest one on the beach, and we liked Zamas for family and friends, and posada margarita for couple/Maya Tulum, and Posada del Sol.

I chose to put my guest in tulum only for the convenience of the location, everybody can walk to the wedding, and we are all pretty close to each other even if we stay at different hotels

there was one giant all inclusive resort called Blue but i heard they closed because they are located on governement lands? too close to the ruins? i keep receiving wedding proposal from them, i don't really know what is going on there...anybody?

i am doing my rehearsal dinner at Zamas, i love the atmosphere and the food is great...but i am looking for a place to do the brunch the day after the wdding, does anyone know of a hotel where i could have tacos on the beach?

Stephdel ~ I was quoted a $100 outside vendor fee. I have it in one of Jackie's e-mails; however, I didn't know that it was for everthing (florist, music, bakery etc.). I'm going to take a closer look at my info. when I get home.

Debbie421 ~ Our guests are staying at either La Tortuga hotel (www.hotellatortuga.com) or the Xaman Ha condos. You can Google Xaman Ha and get some links if interested. The condos are individually owned and therefore managed by several different rental agencies. I have stayed at both La Tortuga and Xaman Ha in the past. Another condo option that we looked at was Natzi Ha Condos. We took a tour of them and they are nicer insided than Xaman Ha, but they are at the north end of Playa and not as close to 5th Avenue as Xaman Ha. Hope this helps.

Regarding hair/makeup, there's a great thread under the RM Vendors section that was very helpful. Unfortunately, this "forum" thing is new to me and I don't know how to link the thread in this post. Sorry!

Anybody else wanna list their vendors too?

Debbie421- My guests are staying at Aventura Mexicana in Playa. I haven't stayed there I based it soley on reviews and service. We wanted a small hotel so that we would be mostly the only people there, but most places didn't respond to either e-mails or phone calls. The manager at Aventura has been super helpful and the Travelocity reviews are all great.

Photo- Vincent from Del Sol (they have been my favorite people to talk to, they definately love their jobs)

Dj- I'm thinking about DJ Bob as well (much better than the $350 an hour Jackie quoted)

Transport- Paradise Tours and Transport

Hotel- Aventura Mexicana

Everything else is through Jackie.

Stephdel- I haven't asked about the corkage fee, but I agree with the $13 an hour for open bar and it isn't even top shelf. We decided to pay by the drink for everyone because we wanted top shelf and knew our families couldn't drink the $125/person that came out to (friends on the other hand probably will). But when you pay by the drink, you have to pay for ALL the drinks, $2.50 per coke and water. I even asked if we could have those big jars of fruit juices you always see in Mexico, we can but still $2.50 per glass. Oh well. They have realized American brides will pay whatever for their wedding to be what they want.

Is anyone using the lounge furniture? Seeing the pictures of that is what made me want my wedding at Ana y Jose, but I'm not really sure how to incorporate it so that I get my money's worth.

Hi everyone! I'm getting married 5/18/2009. Glad we could all chat, I think it's really going to help all of us out.

I haven't heard anything about the $200 for outside vendors. Please tell me that's a flat rate, and not for each vendor! Does that rate only apply to vendors she doesn't recommend?

Has anyone looked into DJ's?

I'm not using the furniture, but I think it would be great for a cocktail hour while you finish with pictures etc. Also just a good place for people to hang out after dinner. You maybe able to place the furniture around the dancing area for the reception as well.

5) Guests--Blue Tulum and other hotels

6) Cake--considering Turtle Bay

7) Ceremony music--Ajua

8 ) DJ-- a friend (wedding guest)

I'm not doing any transport since everyone is staying in Tulum.

I'm a bit concerned about all these different vendors and the potential costs to me. I emailed Jackie to find out how much it would be. I looked back at my contract and does say there is an extra fee for outside vendors but it doesn't say how much it is or which vendors that applies to.

How much is the corkage fee? Is anyone considering buying wine and champagne from Costco and paying the fee?

I don't think we can afford to add the lounge furniture but I'd be interested to hear what you guys are renting and how much you are paying. We are getting married at the beach club so there are the beach beds there at least.

Regarding Blue Tulum the rooms are really nice and they have A/C. I thought our guest would be comfortable there so we blocked rooms there and decided to host our welcome dinner there. They have been really difficult to deal with however so I would recommend blocking rooms with them.

What area are you having your reception in? I am considering doing it under the grape trees because I am worried about privacy in the palapya. I understand that they will be opening for dinner in the palapya and that there will be other guests eating in the same area who are not our wedding guests.

Also, Steph--how much did it cost you to do rehearsal dinner at Zamas? We are thinking of doing our day-after brunch there.
